If this girl, she can be from the broken family, is not severely punished, more and more youngsters or rather the Ah Long will recruit more youngsters to be their runners to carry out harassments on those debtors. I have been a victim of Ah Long's harassement before.

The ex-owner of my house borrowed money from Ah Long and our metal gates ended up being chained for 2 mornings.

Paints were splashed around too.

 

I can't imagine if my house has been put on fire. The severity of their crime seems to have escalated.

Strong signals need to be sent to these blood-suckers before innocent parties are killed.

she deserves it. The excuse of trying to make money is baseless. Had she end up killing a family member because of the fires, would any of you all bother whether she is a minor? A murderer or attempted murder can be of any age.

It is very difficult to capture the Ah Long head as he has many scapegoats.

 

But if the Ah Long head ever gets apprehended, they should be sentenced to death. This should eradicate the problem once and for all. That will also serve as a strong deterent to Ah-Long wannabes.

As a minor I think her punishment is too harsh, a fine and probation is better. A young teen might not be matured enough to understand the implication on her action. A jail term will ruined her life and she is too young to get a black mark...

This is typical of Singapore law. They want to make an example of runners.

 

I remember once time back, CNB arrested a lot of Msian (especially from Kelantan) who smuggle heroin. Send them to the gallows. Eventually the news filtered back, and it stop.

 

It is the same now. They coming down very hard on the runners. Sooner or later the supply chain will be cut off.

 

But like the heroin smuggling cases, the kingpin or the Ah Long San get away scot free. The one get arrested, if you notice many Malay youth. Petty crime, get involve in gambling, start life of crime.

Need to tekan low level big time so got enough discount to give to the entire chain of command.

Ris low stole credit cards to buy good underwear. I used vouchers to buy cheap underwear.

 

So sad.. only 16 and get 4 years, this is good for society as one less bad person on the streets. Perhaps its like what the 2nd poster said, she set fire, which is a big and serious issue which can jeopardize the surrounding neighbour's life.
