Not advisible to try this overhaul.

Most likely it wont last or perform badly.

Best is get a good reliable new shock. Check around for better prices b4 u buy.

Seems like the same item can b sold at different prices at various suppliers. Shop around.

Nobody do such overhaul for struts and telescopic types of shock absorbers because they are welded at the end and also the cost to remanufacture a standard shock absorber doesn't make sense but for coil over yes. Also if your Macpherson struts are those that comes with replaceable inserts then just change the core will do but for Optra, thats not how its made. Chevy parts are cheaper compared to Japanese makes. Just go to their parts and services and buy it off the rack or get a quote from the customer service officer on a replacement.

My 5 yrs old Kia Rio's rear suspension is gone ... need replacement. which is the cheapest absorbers among those mentioned?

the Kia stockist quoted me $85 for gas filled suspension per pc, so x2.

Any cheaper alternative?

Rear absorber for the Rio should be the telescopic type. An aftermarket brand like KYB should be cheaper yet performs similar or even better than OEM ones. You can call Yuen Thong or Chin Hon motors for quotation on KYB shock absorbers.

Details of your vehicle should be as follows:

Make: Kia

Model: Rio/Rio RX-V

Model Code: KNADC22/24

Year: 2004-2007

KYB number: 343353

OEM number: K30A28700H, K32B28700, K33C28700

yea i actually heard gas shocks can last longer.

anyone knows anything???

oil only shocks will last longer than gas-charged, but gas-charged normally is more responsive without a need of complex design.

Don't take the first price they quote as final. Try to bargain down a little before you commit. Also these 2 are stockist, they wouldn't be able to assemble it for you. Just bring the shocks to your regular mechanic and have them installed. Labour charges depends on how well you know him/her.
