Roh96 6th Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 (edited) YOM in 2007? This car could be sitting somewhere under rain and shine for almost 2 yrs. U need to take note that YOM will affect the resale/export value next time unless u drive for 10yrs till COE expire. I suggest that u take a look at the condition of the car before u decide to buy or not. Edited October 22, 2009 by Roh96
Alfisti168 1st Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 (edited) YOM2007 really very old, as Unltd as said. Most probably have been abandoned in the warehse. Or maybe it may have been driven abit quite frequently coz warehse usually need to move out some cars before they can gain access to a particular car model which they want. So mileage might have been higher than usual. Spare parts shouldn't be a problem bah, since the car is still common and the engine and gearbox is used in many other honda cars as well. Resale value likely to be affected since the OMV of 19k+ in 2007 is lesser than the 24k OMV that you get for YOM2009 edix-es. However, take note that you pay less upfront, hence the monetary value that you lose is probably lesser. Actually it is still a pretty good buy. Just make sure that you ask the dealer to give uu more accessories, and ask for a change to new tyres because keeping a car dormant for too long will cause tyre flat spots to arise. Also must ask uu... is the PI a reputable one? Or is it some kind of hideous company..? Edited October 22, 2009 by Alfisti168
Kelpie 2nd Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 My take is don't buy Edix, though I once almost bought it. Reason, being it is an end of life product, which potentially means downward pressure on resales value and higher depreciation. Regards,

Also must ask uu... is the PI a reputable one? Or is it some kind of hideous company..? I beg to differ on your point that it is a good buy, the basic cost is around $63k including COE. This is a car that dealer is hard pressed to sell as it has been sitting around for at least 1 full year (whole of 2008 + now 2009). they should be selling near or below cost. Something like a 2nd hand car. Still want to make profits of more than $10k from this deal is a little too much. Paper value is also super low comparatively. Prostcode Clutched October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 Don't get Edix. There are many other cars out there for your consideration. Salesman want to 'clear' doesn't mean must buy.
7007 2nd Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 (edited) Agreed that this a nice car for extended family with 6 members or less....it's a real pity it's going to be EOL... With the asking price, the PI still make more than $10k, in this case it's not the worth the risk.... With YOM 2007 and 2009 coming to an end soon, it's only worth if it's close to the cost price or lower ... Edited October 22, 2009 by 7007
Alfisti168 1st Gear October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 That's why must get more accessories + a new tyre mah. And must check the condition of the car. See it first before buying. If the dealer tries to hide the car from you, then it is not a good buy. But if he don't, see the car, test drive and try to bargain by pointing out the defects that you see/feel. Akula Turbocharged October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 Can consider IF ABLE to get it about $10K lesser........ Plus willing to drive long term. This car in export value terms already 2 yrs old......

Thespark Neutral Newbie October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 The daihatsu Terios makes a worthy consideration (7 seat version), just fold down the last row for extra space for pram, bags etc. Although that makes it more of a 5+2 than a true 7 seater, the edix is more of a 5 + 1 than a 6 seater as well. Price wise you might find it more attractive since its a 1.5 though not as powerful as the 2.0 edix

Victorco 2nd Gear October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 not worth the $ to get a edix. try looking around for a sec hand instead. putting the car there for 2yrs or so mean all the rubber would have harden plus normally this kind of PI their warehouse is open air tat mean 2yrs of rain sun abuse. so more problem then saving to be coming. look at other model or make if u wan. since your 2nd is coming i guess u should be looking around for a sedan instead of edix 2L which = higher roadtax and having a 2L with a H logo = higher insurance. if u need a hatch and wan space latio sport, madza 3 hatch, 308, suzuki sx4, or even liana. this are all hatch with space and 1.6L so u save more in long run. onli madza FC slightly higher rest should be ok. unless u wanna power then no choice. Lammy84 Neutral Newbie October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 No matter what if u buy, die die tyre MUST change. Tyre typical life is only 3 years before it start to harden and deteoriate. The threads may look new and even if no flat spots, hardened tyres means when u jam brake, instead of flexing, the tyre start to crack or if you cruise at 100kmh the whole tyre start to strip itself away/burst. All scenrios are ugly. Trust me, go check out urself on google, tyre failure is 1 of the biggest causes of fatal accidents in the states. Also offer the guy 100 bucks a mth x 24 above the estimate cost the coy pay to buy the car. The 100 bucks is for the parking. Reason is simple, a 2007 car that cant be sold and with which production has ceased would have the value of the car as an asset factored in with depreciation. Trying to charge u 10plus K above cost points to a profit margin of over 10% which is close to what some ADs are making per car for fresh stock. Either the dealer is trying to pull a fast 1 on u by pocketing the margin or the coy owning the car is an idiot. If i were the seller i would be glad to move this deadweight which is hard to sell the moment there is interest. Every day im holding on to it im getting less chance of clearing it and are losing money on it. Also bear in mind that cars which havent been operated for 2 years or are only moved sporadically are likely to be poorly maintained. Natural EO breaks down or lose their lubrication properties over time. Joints which were greased when leaving factory are likely to have uneven lubricating, if the workers who shift the car does not allow the car to warm up before moving it, and or ram the engine around (its a k20a after all, same engine found in fd2rs and dc5rs), engine may have suffered premature wear and tear. Thinking abt it gives me nightmares itself lol. Please BEWARE!!!
