Most affordable and nice 2-seater roadster would be the Mazda mx-5 for me.

Most affordable and nice 4-seater convertible would be the Volkswagen eos.

i put 2 plastic seats at the back of my old uncle's pickup truck.... presto: open top (for rear passengers)!!!

Hi guys

sorry to bring up an old thread

Am in the marketing for an 'affordable' convertible, probably second hand.

Have shortlist to below :

1. Mazda MX-5

2. Opel Astra Convertible

3. Toyota MRS

Any comments ? The Opel seems more 'worth it' as it is a 4 seater but not sure if driving experience is as good.

Budget should be around $60K-$70K.

Helpful comments are appreciated !

Astra Convertible is a bit heavy and slow. Ideal for cruising if you don't really mind.

But my choice would be MX-5. Best. [thumbsup]

Most affordable would be the 207cc if you dont mind the cabin size.

I have driven both the ford capri xr3i if i recall correctly and mx5 1.6 1992 when i did my studies overseas more than a decade ago. Capri was like 8.5k and the mx5 was 15k...dirt cheap by Singapore standard.

Mx5 handles well at high speed cruising 120-140km/h with top down. Given the age of the car, you have to look out for water seepage at the roof section.

With the current RHT, sound proofing and water seepage is improved. Goes for around 10k depreciation per year, on par with some contis. Haa..is it worth the money?

If you are young, go for it.

You'll hv the best of both worlds with the astra if you only hv these three choices

Mx5 is gu niang (see all earlier comments)

Mrs still quite gu niang

An old 3er cab would be excellent

Quite common for Peugeot hard-top cabrios actually. The hard-top sensor mechanism quite prone to failure.
