Karnaugh Neutral Newbie March 4, 2011 Share March 4, 2011 im not technically inclined when it comes to suspension like you but its really uncomfortable. whether it is a sports car or sporty car, its debatable. people call it sports car, others call it poseur car. but anyways, it should at least deal comfortably with local road humps. even when slow down considerably, still uncomfortable. too hard. i know of cars more sporty and expensive than koup that can feel more comfortable over bumps and humps. oh and it isnt lowered, with stock rims and tyres 17", it was bad. we decided to get 18% low profile, it became worse.. haha. but ok la no choice The koup is using torsion beam setup which is naturally more uncomfortable than the multi-link setup used in higher end cars like your roc etc. You get what you pay for i guess. ↡ Advertisement

But usually multi-link offer better handling and comfort at the end of the day. Torsion beam is mainly used to save boot space and cost.

It had BETTER be more comfortable. Anyway, so will getting a aftermarket branded coilover make things better?

I think after market coil overs seldom make things more comfortable unless your car is already very uncomfortable to begin with like my car.

Not only mine but cars like EVO STI turning radius are all big. Usually it is due to the wider wheel footprints and also the differentials.

Torsion beam actually gives poorer handling. It is used because it saves space and it costs less. If you do some research you will find that most high end sports cars use fully independent suspension front and rear. Torsion beam is only used in certain hot hatch such as FN2R but due to this the car is heavily criticized.

Torsion beam is only used in certain hot hatch such as FN2R but due to this the car is heavily criticized. the way i see it a torsion beam is similar to having a car with a different suspension set up with a rear strut bar installed i don't have to do any research because no matter what suspension set up you use, the minute you install a rear strut bar the car effectively becomes a torsion beam set up i seriously doubt that handling will be affected because of linking the 2 rear suspensions together if in any case it might even be better by reducing chasis flex and saving weight over more complexed suspension set ups! anyway i didn't have the impression that sports cars use torsion beam i meant that koup is categorized as a sports car and the hard suspension helps with the handling and give the user the stability that a multi link suspension wouldn't Edited March 4, 2011 by Expertz
Kar_lover Supercharged March 6, 2011 Share March 6, 2011 When the 6 speed forte/koup was launched, it was only about $5k difference from the old 4 speeder. Just went to Kia showroom and saw price difference is now $10k. Those looking to buy koup and not particular on the bodykit and bluetooth, might be a good choice to buy the 4 speed instead. From what i can tell the difference between 4 and 6 speed is not that great. 5th gear ratio is 1.00. only 6th gear is overdrive. $10k can buy u 5,000L of petrol (more if u top up in JB). For avg driver based on 10km/l, this which will give u 50,000km, i.e. more than 2 yrs of "free" petrol.
