The most value-for-money made-in-Japan car now is the Mitsubishi Lancer GLX manual.

Its just ~$3-4K more expensive than say a Korean KIA Forte manual.

p.s. Vios, City, Altis etc. are all not 100% Nippon car, IMHO ... and neither are they cheaper than the Mitubishi CS3.

As of this period, I pick Nissan Latio, but Toyota allion always have a place in my heart [thumbsup]

Have to spell out what is your definition of "Value for money"? Do you mean cheapest car? horsepower to dollar value ratio? resales value? OMV value? and etc and etc.

If you don't do that, then the 1st thing that come to my mind is the cheapest japanese car in general [flowerface].

Regards,

If you say value for money..

Its gonna be either the latio for now as the pricing didn't really increase with the COE.

For hatchback, its the suzuki swift(not sports), at ard 55k its still 1 of the lowest priced.

Else its still good old lancer glx and nissan sunny for its 1.6L and size.

5. Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 GLX - (M)$49,988, (A)$54,988

6. Lancer 1.6 GLX Sports - (M)$54,988, (A)$56,988

I got my GLX Sports (M) for slightly below $47k in Mar 2008, COE was around $12.3k back then.... Even the fuse I see is stated "Made in Japan".

I hear the Sports version currently do not have foglights and only one air bag....

Sorry Folks. I miss out Daihatsu and Suzuki [sweatdrop],

This is the first time I try to do a poll for curosity purpose.

How do I add these two brand in?

As for the meaning of value for money for a normal family car.

I think It should be a car that has the most specification/equipment with the least $$$.

In that case it has to be Daihatsu Sirion. At 55K u get a car that is spacious, 4 star NCAP rating, ABS w/EBD, 4 airbags, front & rear anti roll bar. but if i had 55k, i would rather buy a Hyundai i30

Look like a lot of people who prefer Japanese brand car support Nissan now.

Nissan car have really improve a lot after the buy over from Renault.

Mitshuibishi also have pull up their socks 8 to 9 years back, AirTrek was the car that I admire during that time.

Diahatsu has also make their car very practical and convenient for small family.

I guess people will naturally support product that is value for money.
