Acevin Clutched October 11, 2009 Share October 11, 2009 My car is parked at Open carpark that is subject to rain and sun. My car wash regime is usually around once every 2 - 3wks. There had been alot of unremovable water stains on the entire roof of my car despite polish after each wash. Can advise how to DIY to remove them and what product to use? You might want to try something that has some slight abrasive like Autoglym Super Resin Polish or soft99 cleaner & polish instead.. Leaving it on for 2-3 weeks should not etch so deep. Fcuktion Neutral Newbie January 13, 2010 Share January 13, 2010 Maintaining is actually the most impt imo. Maybe you can try getting a 2nd hand Makita and get some M105 and of cos some pads. If your paint is soft eg: honda, Mitsubishi maybe an orange pad would work. But if its Audi, Mercs i would say go the Menzerna route of some SIP. Ken4555 1st Gear January 13, 2010 Share January 13, 2010 my 5 cents worth... no offense... for a person who washes the car once every 2-3weeks and you park in an open space car park... i doubt you have much knowledge on paint work maintanance... seriously... instead of wasting some more time and $ on one of sooooooo many products in the market... and probably gonna sweat and get miserable results.... i would strongly reccommend you invest in a paint protection programme... go choose a shop under 'paint protection' and get them to restore you paint to a show room shine, and after your car is done, furthur washing maintanance will be sooooo much easier.. and the shop will tell you how to maintain the shine with the least amt of effort... some requirer only water to wash and your car shines like hell... comes with 12-24months warranty on the shine... Maddriver 4th Gear January 14, 2010 Share January 14, 2010 (edited) After couples of years of my limited knowleage..Trying various brands..I guess it all fall for individual preferences and believe.. Personally I have tried some of the brand naming as a paint protective which can be purchase through internet but I shall not give my comment on them.. There are many factors which causes paint to get oxidise or water marks easily..like how often one maintain his/her car..The quality of the paint.. Maybe I will do some test on those PPS and wax products better than talking and arguing which is good..Coat them up and leave it for rain and sun without washing.. With (my meagre detailing knowledge (jus pickup a year ago)my so-call strict regime of weekly cleaning (wash,AW),bi-weekly (wash,AW n 845 on top panels) and 6-weekly(full detailing),cnt overcome these stubbon water stains. If really on the ball,one hve to wipe down the car thoroughly the moment the downpour stops before the water stains start setting in n tats a hell of a task.. So now i jus continue my strict regime n if hve $$$ then send car for defects removal...imho bro... my car is under a 24month shine warranty.. i am almost at 6months.. and i can still get my car to shine like crazy... i have no water spots... thank god... water spots appear onc your car is wet and drying in the sun... if i the shade not so serious but if the car is dirty then marks will also appear... but in the sun is the worst... anyways, lets say you have a good paint sealent... every time your car is dirty or kanna rain, i will hose my car down for like approx 30sec... then wipe with my mirco fiber cloth... take no more than 10mins max.... and power shine again time after time... i am NEVER ever going to any car wash ever again... petrol station or JB or even car polish shop car wash... nononono... EVERYTIME someone else washes my car sure got scratch one... haiz.... and the deterents they used strip my 'smoothness' off my car... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
