Leclair 3rd Gear October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 if $23 is for basic + Football then it is about 50% off in absolute money sense. However, considering the much less content in the other channels, then it is less value in money in that sense. If the rest of family cant bear to part with Ah Hub , then it will be back to square one in terms of monthly fees. So it depends on what one 'needs'. So will you bite? Ticklish8 3rd Gear October 10, 2009 Author Share October 10, 2009 SINGTEL is cutting the cost of watching Barclays Premier League (BPL) games by more than half. The telecommunications giant, which won the bid for the exclusive rights to the BPL for the next three seasons from 2010, unveiled its price plan on Saturday. The Barclays Premier League will cost $23 per month on mio TV, exclusive of GST. The price includes all 380 Premier League matches and one high-definition set-top box. As an added bonus, mio TV customers who sign a one-year plan to watch these matches will also enjoy the Uefa Champions League and Uefa Europa League at no additional cost till May 2011. Said SingTel's CEO Singapore, Mr Allen Lew: 'We have promised football fans that they will not be charged more than what they have been paying their cable operator. And we are delivering on our promise - in fact, watching the Barclays Premier League matches will cost them almost 60 per cent less.' More pricing and promotional information as well as sign-up details will be announced shortly.
Shorty Turbocharged October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 if $23 is for bpl only...then isn't it the same as SH? unless we dont need to subscribe to any basic package...then it wil really b half. if not, no difference. n if really can subscribe to sports only, will it include ESS channels? i tink can't take their word for now.wait till the full details r out. Bismarck Turbocharged October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 $23 is still expensive to me consider how much I paid the last time I subsrcibed sports channel which is at $15+ with Starhub. After that I stop subscribing so I dont think Singtel's offer is going to attract me at all. I rather watch it online.
Waime Neutral Newbie October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 (edited) In absolute amount - yes, it's slightly cheaper. In content amount - NO. It's hell lot more expensive. Because MIO doesn't support La liga and Bundesliga matches let alone Serie A which we used to have under SH. Please be more objective when ST declares they half the BPL subscription prices because it's not the truth. Another publicity gimmick and I hope someone will post in mainstream media to highlight this. Edited October 10, 2009 by Waime

Felipe 3rd Gear October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 basically EPL and ESPN sports. so if la liga, F1 all show under ESPN, then it's MIO has got it all. As for price, maybe it's another $23 for ESPN and that actually makes it more expensive than Hub. Singtel needs to clarify what exactly comes with this $23. If it's only EPL, then it's super expensive.

Winningeleven 4th Gear October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 For starhub, it is a MUST to subscribe the basic plan (3 groups only) for $25. If u add sport package, it will be another $25. No matter how, $50++ is the mininium cost just to watch EPL. No such thing just to watch sport package and pay $25 to starhub. If we are allow to subscribe Mio EPL package only for just $23. Yes, that is consider 1/2 price saving provided if the subscribers watch just EPL only from starhub.
Beanoyip Turbocharged October 10, 2009 Share October 10, 2009 I don't think you all see the big picture here, now Singtel is charging $50+ for sports only, while for StarHub, you pay $50 for basic + sports.. now who's ripping who off?
