Pss2 2nd Gear October 8, 2009 Share October 8, 2009 Thinking of getting a used Jaguar X-Type. Anyone who own this car know the cost of doing regular servicing? Are parts very expensive? ↡ Advertisement
Hwchoy Neutral Newbie October 19, 2009 Share October 19, 2009 if you service at Malayan, you shouldn't expect it to be cheap. but then the cost of servicing must be put in context of servicing cost at Performance and C&C.

Pss2 2nd Gear October 21, 2009 Author Share October 21, 2009 got money buy jaguar, dun tell me no money pay for maintainance No wonder ppl say MCFers are so unfriendly. Can't I just ask? I can afford just a used x-type to be honest but I don't want to be burden by servicing if it is going to cost a lot. I have left MCF many years already as it is getting mess up by ppl like u. I just start to post and u give such sarcastic remarks. I know u r rich but u dun have to make this remark. Can't I do my research here with ppl who ever own this car? Silver_blade Turbocharged October 21, 2009 Share October 21, 2009 That fellas has been banned.... There will be people like this in any forum. Just b'cos you want to know about the cost of maintaining the car, FC, etc...means you cannot afford the car. I sometimes wonder how they decide which car to buy.....just walk into a showroom, pick a car withing their budget and buy?
Pss2 2nd Gear October 21, 2009 Author Share October 21, 2009 Actually I am in no hurry to look for a car as I have the habit of doing research before deciding on the right car. Cars I been asking around are X-Type, Saab, Volvo and Alfa. I think I have to strike off Volvo as the servicing is too much for me to pay for after asking my friend. Akula Turbocharged October 22, 2009 Share October 22, 2009 Most new Volvo have 3 years free mantainence, except for the base models. Volvo dun have to go back to SM motors, after warranty/free maint expires....... Have a few outside workshops that can do a more than decent job, can find them in volvosg forum. Cant comment on the rest.

Try the x-type or jag forums in the UK or USA, they have lots of info. servicing is fairly straight forward. U need to find out if it is OBDII friendly and does it need a "Service" light reset tool. XsenseX 1st Gear October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 Friend driving this but sold it away ... maintenance quite tough ... He even say that he rather take a taxi sometimes cause the fuel is horrible. LOL (Its his view so don't flame me ya)
Class Neutral Newbie October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 i am not sure of the servicing, but i heard that the FC is rather high, about 6 - 7 km/l only.
Isaaccas Neutral Newbie October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 Hi bro, dont have to strike out volvo. The maintenace is not very scary.....driving my S40 2.4i for almost 3yrs. Car coming to 5 yrs old, no major problem, FC is reasonable at 8-9km/l with heavy right foot and sprint booster. service only every 15k km at around $300-$500 per service. Even if you travel 30k per year, it still less than $1k/yr for servicing...Hope this might help on your decision. Cheers!
XsenseX 1st Gear October 24, 2009 Share October 24, 2009 Yeah ... FC is around 7KM range ... Horrible. Even porsche can do better ...
Petra Neutral Newbie October 24, 2009 Share October 24, 2009 the servicing interval/price for conti rides are pretty ok as they usually start from at least 10k or 15k unlike jap cars having theirs at 1k, 5k, 10k, 20k. but the thing is the wear n tear stuffs that you replace will probably hurt you more. I heard from my friend who drives a S60, she went back to agent to service as she said that outside workshop no different form Volvo agent. Normal service is 600.00 and if major one is around 2k. Where did you send your Volvo ? How about old S80? I am looking for car not bigger than 2.0, not anxious to buy now but get myself prepared when i am ready to change my car.
