I pity u guys in the army. [sweatdrop] In the Navy, very good food onboard ship. The worst was fish finger, chicken patty and fried rice.

The best was chilli crab during my time. [thumbsup] We had char kway teow, laksa, prawn noodles, fish ball noodles, teochew porridge, chicken rice, etc daily. You will never get hungry onboard the ship. :D

when u got nothing to eat for 3 days that sardine will taste like dragon meat to u...

I've not knowingly chosen sardine at a mealtime, since those days. The smell stays on your fingers, fieldpack, anything you touch, for days.

We used to joke that the enemy would not need high-tech snooping equipment to find us, just working noses.... [laugh]

Don't know about other country, but do all "lau chio"soilder still remember this?Really sucks big time and all the houseflies like the stupid sardin......

You know why they called the biscuits hard tack? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardtack

Those things used to bring on 3 days of constipation! I guess it was a benefit in the field as you'd not need to deposit waste so often.... [sweatdrop]

My BMT sargeant also taught us the trick to eating the dog biscuit and at the same time water conservation...pour water into the biscuits..

hv to trial and error to get it right, too much and it becomes really soggy. get it right and the texture is really taste like cake (at that time of course. can't say the same now).

Haha - most BMT sergeants didn't actually get out on field exercises after their SAFINCOS courses. But they're very good at pretending they did....

With the hard tack, a 'barely' palatable version was putting in the chocolate bar and water together with the biscuits in a mess tin. Chocolate porridge.

I never figured out why they issued those cheap chocolate bars which melted after the first hour in the field....
