Make the thumbdrive a shared drive on one PC, and share it on the second through your network.

I suppose you want to share some data from your thumbdrive with another person right?

Best solution is to copy everything to your harddisk on the notebook or PC.

Do a "Briefcase" to sync the files from your notebook to the thumbdrive.

Then do a file sharing from your notebook/PC for that drive/directory.

No network involved, no configuration involved also....

Just want to know if it will work this way?

Think I will buy 2 cables, cut them and connect them in parallel.

It's meant for a pulling out data for my own use :)

It will not work.. a USB device can only be driven by one USB host.

And even if you make your own cable, you might blow the 2 USB ports on the PCs.. the host (PC) ports supply the power..

All these data comms are digital. Once a device plugs into a host, host assigns an ID to the device.... 2 computers might not assign the same ID to the device.. so how does your drive know which ID to respond to.. your drive is not designed to recognize 2 hosts..

And even if theretically it works.. both hosts will periodically do handshake and flow control protocols to all the USB devices.. you cannot control the computer not to send data.. what if both send at the same time ? the signals on the same 2 wires will just interfere and become garbage..

my colleague told me Aztech 3G router can use USB thumbdrive as network drive. Just plug in thumbdrive to the usb port at the router.

Get a NAS device and setup RAID 1 and dump all import stuff there.

I have the agony of remembering the lost of my beloved data, family pictures on HDD and thumbdrives before.
