Ysc3 Twincharged November 27, 2017 Share November 27, 2017 Yes.. this valve very generic. Easily found. Mechanism is simple. Unlikely anything spoil. Probably just dirt. Knock a few times shd clear any jam. Design only got 2 diameter sizes. Snowy brand hv generic replacementI think that was what caused the problem. I had used the Mr muscles bleach cleaner to spray the insides...I think that might have been to strong and caused the flush valve to jam up. Anyway this is not so easy to find also as I went to about 8 hardware shops around my place also don't have. I removed mine and brought it for fitting. Finally I brought my mother till see Dr this morning and happen to be a shop selling toilet stuffs...and they had it ! So hopefully my $18 will solve the problem. ↡ Advertisement

Unfortunately there's no real hardware shop near my house. not a problem, maybe a large spanner or a Tarzan pliers will do the trick.just be careful not to over tighten once it is fixed or else the plastic may crack! anyway take a photo as a guide to find from the hardware together with Teflon tape. Do you mean the water supply valve? It should be connected to a float via some mechanical link so that when the desired water has reached it will close the valve. If the mechanical link is somewhere broken or loosen it will not close the valve. Anyway this part (from float to valve assembly) is easily replaceable. Along Geylang Road should have plenty of such shops. Or Queensway around the Alexandra hawker center those bathroom accessories shops. Lala81 Hypersonic January 18, 2018 Share January 18, 2018 yeah its the same concept one but now it's the new type. all vertical. i also dunno where it's broken or not functional cos can't visualise well without removing it. Evillusion Supersonic January 18, 2018 Share January 18, 2018 The assembly in the drawing. It comes as a set. Anyway here's how to remove it. First turn off the water supply. The closing valve should be along the flexible hose (water supply). Unscrew the flexible hose on the valve inlet. Loosen the nut(red) in drawing. By removing the thin nut you will be able to remove the assembly. It's that easy. Installation will be that straight forward. float assembly.jpg Bring along your sample to the shop to buy a similar one. okay....thanks for the good lesson. We need to do more diy in our home.........nowadays even simple things like curtain rails we ask contractor to do.....haiz.

It doesn't cost much.
mersaylee Hypersonic January 18, 2018 Share January 18, 2018 I once brought the antique assembly with the shot put size float and combed the entire Balestier and Jalan Besar to find the same type... Some shopkeepers gave me that “are you for real?” kind of look. Finally, found one shop that still sells the old design but the dimensions won’t fit my water tank. Then was asked why not use any of the various new designs as replacement? Suddenly I felt like I was a tortoise from the mountain... Tried out two different new designs assembly for two toilets and both were piece of cake to diy. Usually, it’s the rubber washers that fail before any other part of the assembly but like mentioned before...it’s easier to change the entire set as it’s not expensive anyway. Only $20-30 per set with new washers. Only the one at my MIL house that I failed to fix the leak after several attempts... Conclusion? There was a very fine hairline crack at the base of the tank

mersaylee Hypersonic January 18, 2018 Share January 18, 2018 The problem with my common toilet cistern is that everything is at the rear bottom and the space is extremely tight there due to my bathroom cabinet on one side and the shower area on the other side (the new HDB toilets space are all just nice one) frankly it's quite back breaking to do anything there. Not looking forward to going that area to remove some nut or what. My wife don't even know where the valve to shut off the water flow to the cistern is this morning, cos u can only feel it but can't see it. I believe the cabinet was done by your ID who never take into account of maintenance of the toilet system. The valve for the water pipe is usually the high pressure type that can get very tight after a long while. I normally turn it open and close a few times periodically to prevent rust or algae buildup. Upload a few snapshots...if you can and we’ll try to advise if we can offer any solution...

So the water in cistern is filling up until it overflows into the overflow pipe. I believe the cabinet was done by your ID who never take into account of maintenance of the toilet system. This happened this morning as we were about to leave the house. so just shut off the water flow to the WC first. ↡ Advertisement
