Most likely the piping is stuck with accumulated dirt. If you have a wet & dry vacuum, you can stick it up the pipe where the water drip out and suck em out.

You should also DIY clean the unit regularly esp the filter

if don ve wet type vacuum, use water hose to flush it out. simply unplug e drain hose from e fan coil n flush from there, be prepare as it may get a bit wet [rolleyes]

I didn't use a hose. Instead, I pour hot water into the drain pipe from the fan coil and flush from there, it works well.

But for better result, it is good to borrow a wet & dry vacuum.

Juz happen last nite as hv not service long time. Anybody got aircon servicing lobang & wats the cost?

You can actually DIY if you have the wet vacuum or ask around to see if any of your friend have 1.

Take a look on how to DIY.

I have service my own.

Time taken to clean A/C = about 1 1/2 hours (includes dismantling of cover from fan coil units x2, leaving the vacuum running for 1/2 hours).

Cost: $0 (borrow vacuum from a friend).

Aside: do clean the a/c filter regularly. I pasted 3M a/c filter and would change that every 2 monhts.

I just serviced my air-con about 2 months ago. Managed to solve the dripping problem.

Recently, the air-con became noisy when turned on. Does anyone know what could be the likely cause?

It is able to blow out cold-air though.

You should service your aircond yourself every month.

Thrust me, it is not as easy as the Mitsubishi advertisement by using a vacuum cleaner to "clean clean here and clean clean there".

You have to remove the front and the drain below the heat exchanger.

Then use a 1" width paint brush that you have cut off about a 1/4" of the bristle to brush clean the blower dirt.

After brushing the blower, plug a rubber hose onto the condensate drain leaving about 6 inches outside.

You can tape some masking tape onto the end of this rubber hose so that when you plug it into the condensate drain it fits snugly.

Next find a plastic bottle with a nozzle, fill it up with water and squeeze the water into the rubber hose till the water fill up the rubber hose.

Blow into the rubber hose quickly to force out the algae inside the condensate drain.

A few bottles of water will clear all the choke

U should do 2 ways of servicing.

One is engage air con ppl to regularly clean and check yr air con. 3 times a year. I just had my servicing this morning. They will take out covers. Vacumn the fins, clean the fins, wipe the blowers (note that fungus will grow on your blowers if u don't wipe them regularly), check leaks, check and clean compressor.

I just learnt one new thing this morning. The compressor fins also need washing due to dust and dirt. They can spray water into the fins. But the problem is u need to tell all your neighbors below about it coz the dirty water will drip down. Another method is use compressed air to blow the fins.

If your air con is not cold, it may be due to compressor fins dirty with dust and whatever. The chop carrot service guy may not want to tell u this, and he may tell u another bull story about other parts spoilt.

The other one is DIY in between the regular service. If u r lazy type, just buy the spray can for air con cleaning, and just spray into the fins. No fuss at all.

I do both ways. U can't really do without the proper air con company servicing because they will offer expert technical advice if necessary. And u can just do DIY between the regular servicing.

I also learn that u need to use your air con once a while, if u dont have the habit of using any particular unit for long time (example your spare room or living room). The reason is because the value in the compressor will get jam if u don't use the air con unit for too long. Once jam, it costs $100+ to change it.

Turn on once a month for 5-10 mins will do the trick.

I engaged Aire Control for the servicings. So far no problem for 3 years with them. At least they never chop carrot me.

Neutral Newbie

Not sure about the market price really.

Mine done by Aircon Singapore.

Cost about $30 to $35 a unit.

When was the last time your service your aircon?

Normally people do it once every 3 to 4 months.

Would like to revive old thread to ask bros here. Recently the aircon split unit has been noisy and the air flow is not very uniform. The noise is best characterised with the noise that you get from interference when you switch on a fan in the face of an oncoming breeze.

[compressor]---------[split 1]---------[split 2]--------[split 3]

split unit 2 is in long periods of disuse because my sister is overseas. the problem has been observed for split units 1 and 2. This is a relatively new Daikin Inverter System 3. Last servicing was about half year ago. Any clue?

Thanks
