Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear September 19, 2009 Share September 19, 2009 (edited) I've already explained. The newer series of Honda engines like the K series are ALL i-VTEC. That means K20A (DC5R) or K20A3 (DC5) are all i-VTEC. The torque is quite similar for both engines. But only the K20A has wild cam VTEC, that kicks in at switchover point with much more torque thereafter. So it is not true that i-VTEC K20A3 has torque "evenly spread out" than K20A. Both have the design feature of cam phasing and advance that earns the label i-VTEC. Hondata is based on original Honda ECU made programmable. That is why it is preferred unless we're looking at all out race prep using stand alone like FCon VPro, Motec. Power FC is also another of such example. For economic ivtec, the intake valve lengthen its opening acting as if Atkinson Cycle. Rite?
