I'm experiencing weak start up today. What could be the reason?

Am Driving Latio Sedan.

I have encounter this situation:

Recently, my car battery went flat for no good reason.

On Monday, I reached my office, attempted to lock the car using the knob on the door, beeping was heard. I took out my remote key and tried locking it, but it does not work. So, I tried with manual way.

Until when i get back to my car after work. My car cannot start up at all. I tried with the key but it still does not work. Thought my remote battery went flat, I went to buy CR2025 batt and replace it. From far, I tried locking n unlocking the car, I saw weak faint light on my car.

I called for jump start company to help me . Paid $30. Went to workshop and ask the mech to check e battery for me. Mech checked e car batt and assured that it is still working fine. Even the legend shown that green is OK. (I checked for myself that my Car Batt is in green stage).

Car batt is 1.5yr old. maintenance free. GP brand.

I never leave my light on at all. Assuming that the car batt went flat after i off e engine?

Now im experiencing weak starting of car.

Anyone know e reason?

Thanks

Since I'm very near to Autopoint, anyone care to tell which workshop over there is trustworthy.

Thanks again.

1st try to get a new battery.

2nd if symptoms repeat, your alternator has probably malfunctioned.

i think its most prob the 2nd.

Yo yo yo.. ho seh bo. =)

U really think so? hmm then how? =P

Most probably ur batteries. If ur free i could try to help u recondition ur battery for free

Very nice of you. How you recondition the batt?

So guys, what can be the verdict? =P I'm quite lost. =P

Highly likely its your battery.

Why your workshop can't even do a proper check for you.

Do they do batteries at all?

I wonder is it possible that if the driving time for the car is short for each trip (everyday only spend about 10-15 on each trip) ....as such that the alternator does not have "time" charge up the battery properly??

Many suggested you just do the min at piecemeal basis which to me is not the right method towards locating the problem source. You may end up wasting time and more money then necessary.

I suggest you head for a professional auto electrician workshop and get them to do three checks and confirm the status

a) High discharge test on the battery to confirm the battery has no internal short and is able to store current.

b) Check alternator for volt and amp output at min 2,500 rpm with all electrical acc on to the max.

c) Use a amp clamp on tong on the battery cable to monitor parasite amp leakage.

Good luck

Follow this advice, this is the correct way.

Some shops just want you to change batt or parts to make some quick money off you.

I had similar problem before, finally isolated to amp leakage from a light bulb that I accidentally knock off place at the boots during loading. The electrical leakage slowly drain off the battery overnite.

Once the bulb was reseated properly, everything ok liao.

Wow, thanks peepz.

Any recommendation of workshop?

I went to Autopoint earlier on, the guy told me that my battery is failing cause the signal kept dropping. But I did not change the battery as I want to go back to the shop (previously went to) and ask abt it. But he never hardsell to me anyway.

The shop I went to did do batteries and car audio.

Starting is still rather weak.

If alternator is the cause, how much is it to repair?

Thanks Yeobh and Goodcar. However I am no expert on this, but I do appreciate the guideline.

Its your alternator - its not recharging the battery.

Hmm, but he said the batt was ok..

So i think the alternator is doing its job.

I suspect, the batt spoil, can charge up but cant contain the charge. Haha.

So Ts resolved ur problem yet?
