Radiator fan not wrking if idle or at traffic junction

if you never on the air con, the fan will only activate when the temperature is hot enough... maybe your fan is dying, and you should check with your mechanic... it's not good to have overheating problems in your car as it may affect other items such as head gasket... no use delaying your replacement of the radiator fan and having to fork out more if a top overhaul is required.. [shocked]

you can check the cost price at a parts supplier and bring it to your preferred mechanic to install for you if you want... [thumbsup]

any lobang to get the radiator fan fix???its wrking if i on the air con but certain time the temp just shot up ...scary sia... [smash]

the air con fan is different from the radiator fan (usually). but it helps to draw air through the radiator and air con condenser.

you should just go to any trusted workshop to check it out. could be simply a loose wiring.

but as the bro said, u need to get it fixed asap. don't want to be melting stuff - could result in costly bills.

Actually, there are some cars that share a main fan for both radiator and aircon... my ride's using a single fan for both radiator and air con, that's why when i went to the mechanic, i was advised to leave the air conditioning on to check on the life of the radiator fan... the radiator fan will only turn on at random times, when the coolant temperature is high, especially during idle and start stop traffic..

i do agree some cars have seperate fans, but i guess manufacturers nowadays adopt the single fan due to space constraints and lesser parts to maintain...

cheers..

Not so true. Toyota cars (mid sized) saloons have 2 Fans.

1 for the Radiator and the other for the A/C. Both will be

turned on when A/C cut in and off when A/C cut out.

However, if the engine temp goes higher, the Radiator Fan

will remained on regardless of the A/C fan cutting in or out.

It all depends on Mfg design and engine sized. I personally

felt that 2 Fans design are my liking. 1 for A/C and 1 for radiator.

Cos if its a 1 fan type, then this fan is very hugh and

will runs at higher RPM when its working which translate

to vibration in the cabin which I dislike. Not forgetting the

noise it produce which bystanders will looked at you when

you stopped at the lights. [sweatdrop]
