It is best that u cover all the sides of the aquarium to cure its drop eye problem. U might wana consider tinted window film from DIY shop so that u can see the aro but it cant see u.

 

Also, maintain good water condition to allow its gill covers to cure and prevent infection. Water change every week.

If the gill curl is not too severe, maintaining good water condition will allow it to heal back on its own. If it's too severe, then you might wanna consider doing OPS to rectify it. Some old birds from the aro forum also claim that a tank which is too small in width can lead to gill curling too
