I look at myself in the mirror everyday and see my yellow teeth, my fat body and pale skin. Then i smell my fingers. Enough motivation.

Other thing works for me is having a baby. So..... go have one. :D

cut slowly... to suddenly go "cold turkey" doesn't work for everyone. Say you smoke 10 sticks a day... cut down to 7, then 4 and slowly to none.

Most impt, give yourself and your body time to get used to the withdrawal effects. If you cut slowly, the effects are minor and you don't really feel it.

Good luck!!!!!

Sounds like u r a heavy smoker.

I've a colleage who smokes about 1 pack a day. He took about 1/2 yr to cut down. He does it grdually by reducing reducing his frequency.

Usually during lunch, he will smoke 2-3 sticks. He slowly cut down to 1 and then 0 [thumbsup]

I had been trying to quit too but only manage to cut down my smoking for 1 pack a day to 1 pack 3 days... it's really hard to quit as I had been smoking for almost 10 years...so for now I will be happy to just cut down slowly. It will be easier I believe.

But my dad manage to cut it off in one shot and is challenging me to quit the same way [sleeping] guess my dad have a better will power then me.. :D

[thumbsup] Tried dat. I agree wif wat u said, all depend on myself. Somehw or somewhere in my mind seems to not stand firm on quittin. Thus after all the methods tried, still smokin.

Like someone said, wna quit, just smoke the last stick and totally forget it....seriously I was once "quiiter"....look at my "last" stick and say bye bye. STop for a few months then pick up again... [shakehead]

Reason to quit is b'cos just feel tat maybe can save some money...after a few months, never see any difference in my account....for health reason? well, I hv seen just too many non-smoker die wif whatever so call smoking related cancer...and also witness close to hundred year olds smoker laughing around.... [rolleyes]

Hi, bro, i have just quitted smoking about 2 months ago. Maybe you can try my methods and see if i works. There are two kinds of nicorette which can be purchased from pharmacies. I bought this nicorette (the stick kind) from pharmacy as i need to hold something in my hand like holding onto a cigarette. Most of the time, a smoker would feel awakard without something in between their fingers and thus would buy or get cigarettes to fulfil that loss. Try the nicorette stick kind, it works by inserting nicotine cartridges into the stick and you inhale in when your feel like smoking. I do that by putting it into my mouth during work and inhaling as and when i need it. Try to decrease the dosage slowly. One thing to note, the taste may not be very pleasant during the first week. The cost of it is around $23 dollars and comes with 18 cartridges and a stick. For me, i used 2 cartridges per day in the begining and then slowly used 1 per day and then 1 every 2 days.

2 Secondly, try to avoid your smoker friends when they are smoking during this time. You would tend to smoke a cigarette in this situation as a smoker would feel like the odd one out when his friends are puffing away.

3 Thirdly, try to think of your health in the long run. You may feel perfectly normal now, but diseases are building up in your body everytime your smoke.

4 Lastly, try to think of your loved ones. I find that their support also works during this time when you are trying to quit. Try telling them that you have started or trying to quit smoking and then telling them everyday that you have continued to stay away from cigarettes or how many stick you have puffed today and would be decreasing it everday. Their support and praise goes a long way in this process.

Most inportantly, it is mind over power. I can now mix around with my smoker friends and they can puff all the like but i would not be tempted to puff at all. Hope this helps and wishing you a smooth and successful way to quit smoking. [flowerface][lipsrsealed]
