They said local petrol quite clean, so far their customer didn't need fuel filter replacement... [crazy]

I do remember when I driving a carburattor engine car, the fuel filter is semi-transparent in the engine bay, easy to replace. After changing I shake the old filter to see if its dirty, surprising its clean, no sediments or dirt inside.

If you know what to look out for, good for you lah.

For those not sure, better change, you don't want to run into a situation one day where suddenly your engine die on you due to fuel starvation.

Lucky you only driving the car, if aeroplane engine die in air then become glider liao.....hehe.

Is there such thing as a universal catalyst convertor? hahaa....

there is... depends on your ride... those car like altis and vios cat converter design is relatively simple and can be replace with aftermarket sports cat converter. where some korean car's cat convertor come in 1 piece with the extractor, you need to change it with extractor all together.. pls note that even there is an aftermarket replacement, whether its LTA friendly or not its another thing...

he say likely is the O2 sensor but ask me to monitor for the new few driver..

U might be right..

But to be sure yourself, it will be good if u see for yourself wad code was thrown for the CEL.

There might be other factors spoiling the O2,eg bad cat; or may juz be wear n tear..

FYI, I changed my O2 for my 06 subaru last year n nothing come back since.

Good luck.

If the shop has a HC C0 gas analyser, the nmech can easily confirm whether it is the lambda sensors or other fuel related problem. Yr feedback on fuel consumption is a good indicator that the lambda sensors are not switching from open to close loop when the engine warm up to operating temp.

If the exhaust CO is very high when the engine temp it up to operating temp then the cause can be due to faulty lambda sensors.

PS By measuring the exhaust pipe temps with a non contact thermometer before and after cat , the different can als0 be used to diagnose fault lamdba sensors

$270 for an O2 sensor is really expensive!! Esp. since stock O2 sensors are narrow range ones and is generally cheaper than wide range sensors.
