Zerstorer 1st Gear September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 Was involved in a chain accident along expressway. I was the last vehicle and my radiator got busted pretty bad. I only managed to get the hp numbers of the 2 drivers in front before we shoo-ed off to the road shoulder, whereby the driver in front of me soon drove off. The thing is, the driver got my particulars from me, but has since refused to reply with his/her particulars. What's the logical reason someone might do this? Invalid licence? Or plotting to claim medical bills using someone else's ID? I just can't think of a reasonable reason why someone would refuse unless there is some scheming involved. Anyone care to give opinions? ↡ Advertisement
Kallangrally Neutral Newbie September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 maybe the guy no valid licence or points not enough already...but that's not the point...the point is whether it was your car who hit his car and his car hit the car's front car etc etc.... if I cannot get his particulars, I would probably take his pic while taking pics of the accident, or remember some special features of the guy..in case.. Watwheels Supersonic September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 (edited) You were in a chain collision & you were the last car? Good luck to you dude. I say this becos whoever end up the last car in a chain accident is the most suay ever. The cars that are infront of you will all come and claim you. My friend ever kenna last car in a chain accident before. No need to know the particulars of the car owners cos all cars involved will look for your insurance coy in such a case. No matter what you are at the losing end. Edited September 3, 2009 by Watwheels

Zerstorer 1st Gear September 3, 2009 Author Share September 3, 2009 Yes, I'm aware that i'm at the loosing end. But if they refuse to give me their particulars, would it mean that they are plotting something?
Zerstorer 1st Gear September 3, 2009 Author Share September 3, 2009 Mustank, thanks for the the link. That's what i'm referring to. Because i'm very uneasy that both drivers have not been replying to my calls or smses. I freely gave them my ID in the first place but they are not replying now. I can't think of any legitimate reason except foul play looming.

Tourdefrance Neutral Newbie September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 Have you recorded his car reg. number? Leave it to the insurers to sort it out. Stay cool.
Nohnemwan 1st Gear September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 The article that Mustank provided is misleadingly titled. The first 2 paragraphs of the article state the legal position very clearly. There are 2 options available to drivers involved in an accident: 1. Exchange particulars. If not: 2. Report the accident to a police station or police officer within 24 hours. In other words: THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO EXCHANGE PARTICULARS. Your provided your particulars willingly. That is your choice. The other drivers chose not to give you their particulars. That is their choice. You can't do 5hit about that. Whether or not they subsequently reported the accident to a police station is their problem, not yours. Why are you so insecure to suspect that they are out to screw you? Your insurance will take care of that. Or are you not insured? Whether or not they screw you jialat jialat or make an honest claim, the result is the same - your premiums will go up anyway. The amount that your premiums will go up by, is not a function of how large their claim is. If their claims amount to $60,000, do you think your next year's premium will be $60,000? So what is your problem just because they didn't feel like exchanging particulars? Get over it.

I thought I read something like you can only claim from the car that hit you directly in a chain collision and not from all those that were behind? Anyone can advise? Altivo 3rd Gear September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 having the car plate number is sufficient. But do remember to put down in your accident report that the driver refused to hand you his particulars
Rncw 5th Gear September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 (edited) are you the zerstorer in clubsnap? think you better report to polis and tell them you suspect the driver got no license...can??? this is not hit-and-run, but run after being hit? MLS Clutched September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 Yes it is true that no longer the last car takes the sh!t. But the claim will take quite a long process because it is a chain collision. Really a long wait
Altivo 3rd Gear September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 oh yes...it will take long cos all the insurance coys and workshop will be discussing how much to "chop"

Get over it. yes agree, as long got car plate number, everything will be on records, this is sg, everything under the sun is being monitored. no s--t abt it. the insurance has its own system of determing the claims and payment, if fishy abt it, they will seek / investigated on it. if u feel unsafe, must trust our legal system. have faith! Jamesc Hypersonic September 3, 2009 Share September 3, 2009 If the driver won't give u his particulars cos he has no licence or no insurance then he cannot claim against you! He is already committing a crime and claiming against you would implicate him. Could be your lucky day bro! ↡ Advertisement
