Lower back pain

I usually go to gym on tuesdays to train on chest n biceps. After that, i will wake up with lower back pain on wednesdays.

Can anyone help explain what went wrong?? [:/]

When i go to gym, i see so many ppl do bench press with feet on the ground. That is very dangerous especially when the bench is high for the user cos bench pressing in that posture will cause spine to arch and may result in pain. I hope you are not doing that.

I do bench press with feet on the bench. Spine confirm straight and flat this way... and safe.

Wow, your case sounds exactly like mine. My L4 and L5 disc is closer than normal so sometimes it will touch the nerve resulting in back pain. So no cure for it? [smallcry] What medication are you taking bro?

Me too, my L4 & L5 narrowed and confirmed slipped disc. Pressed my nerve till pain radiated to whole right leg and paralysed on bed [sweatdrop]

Now NS downgraded from Pes A to C9L2 permanent, sian [smallcry]

hi there,

i got back problem too.every year,i will have a stay in hospital as my whole body jammed.

but after i wen to a chinese physician in AMK blk 128,the chinese physician do a Chiropractic treatment to my back and an accupuncture to release the nerve.

what a relief, after the CTRL,ALT,DEL to my body.

treatment also cheap,less than $50.

if you go to Western Chiropractic, will cost you hundreds of dollars.

now,as and when,my body will start to stiiff in the back,i don't hesitate to go visit the chinese physician.

Remember to lay newspaper before putting your feet on the bench. Keep the bench clean for other users. [thumbsup]

Doing bench press with feet on the ground is the right way. Those with the feet on the bench is wrong.

I am speaking as a certified fitness instructor from SSC.

The reason is because when you do bench press, you want to have good stability in your body posture. You want your feet to be firmly planted on the ground so that you have stability on both sides. This prevent you from rolling over the bench if something goes wrong.

Feet on the bench is dangerous. I have seen people who can't managed the weight on one side of his body and ended up falling off the bench with a broken rib as his body crashed onto the dumbell when he roll over and fell.

Doing bench press correctly with the right weight for you with feet planted firmly on ground is the way to go. I have been doing this for once every week for 20 years now and I have never had a lower back pain.

Ask yourself this---> did you also do seat-ups? if you did...how did you do your seat-ups?

Oh yes don't put your foot on the ground. It may give more power to push because of arching the back put it pressure in the lower back. By putting on the bench we flatten our back against the bench. Try it and you will find it safer but not as much power. You see bench power needs to come from pec anyway so gungho people like to arch to engage the lower back. Hope this helps someone here

I used my sister in law's upapa last week. My goodness is it heavier than expected. Basically it feels like a water bag with a ball massager. It is fine for muscle tension but it does not get the neck just around shoulder. Because of the water sloshing sound, it is too noisy for me.

Fully agree with you. Feet flat on the floor, pull your shoulders in and keep you back tight. I too see a young chap falling over with the empty bar when his so call "trainer" ask him to cross his feet in the air to ensure that his back is full flat on the bench.

I too suffer from lower back sore but not from bench press, its from dead lift.

Do planks, side planks, hyperextension and other core muscle strengthing exercises.
