Roborovskii 4th Gear August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 i believe majority of you have read about the upcoming OPC rule changes in MCF. i guess most OPC owners are happy with it. how about those owners of normal plate cars? are you ok with it or do you have even better suggestions?? I think the main intention for these OPC changes is to get normal plates to convert due to the high volume in traffic during the peak hours. Of course current OPC owners benefit too, while OPC cheats are going to have a harder time One negative prediction I have though is that as more people convert to OPC, "peak" hours will shift towards the twilight hours (6am-7am & 7pm-8pm). So driving about these 2 hours everyday is going to be sardine-like. ↡ Advertisement

Yeshe Turbocharged August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 Should be cheaper since you use the car less. like by how much? any OPC owners can advise? or agents?
Stary Turbocharged August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 I am surprised that the first few threads are all on complaining that people cannot cheat now. What's wrong with you guys? Are all of you turning into a nation of cheaters or what? Can buy car cannot pay the OPC coupons? Anyway, I have a genuine question to ask. How does the gov. pay that $1100 every 6 months? Credit into our bank account? Also, what about COE car? If I buy a COE car (more than 10 years car) and then convert into OPC, do I also get the $1100 every 6 months? Boyboy 1st Gear August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 There is a loophole. If the person drive out OPC and throughout the journey saw no LTA or TP. He will be tempted not to buy the e-coupon. He have up to 2359hrs to decide. just test the system lah. he never see them, doesn't mean they never see him now they can up the penalties, cos there is no excuse for not buying the license. then again, because the loopholes are almost completely sealed, they will lose revenues from the heavy fines. i think overall LTA will lose out

SGCMwind79 Clutched August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 Sorry if someone else asked this before. Given the new rule, would it be more worth it to buy a new car with OPC and get 17k? Or should a new owner pay for a normal plate, but convert it within the first month to get the OPC rebate of 2.2k every year? 2.2k x 10 would be equivalent to 22k? Lastly, after driving the next 10 years of OPC car, when I renew my COE, will it still be OPC or would it be automatically converted to normal plate since I don't get to enjoy an additional 17k rebate if I renew? Picanto 3rd Gear August 30, 2009 Author Share August 30, 2009 regarding the 1.1k rebate over 6 mths, i think dun have to worry too much. onemotoring.com will have a calculator whereby we we only need to key in some figures and the website will auto-calculate the sum. Picanto 3rd Gear August 30, 2009 Author Share August 30, 2009 The only unhappy reason I can think of is those OPC owners that don't need to drive on sat that often but need to pay the increase road tax. i think they will let off steam by driving on sat. maybe a 10 min drive also can let off some anger. Sparks Neutral Newbie August 30, 2009 Share August 30, 2009 The only unhappy reason I can think of is those OPC owners that don't need to drive on sat that often but need to pay the increase road tax. Existing OPC owners can choose not to convert to the new scheme if they don't need to drive on Saturday mornings, so they don't have to pay the increased road tax too. ↡ Advertisement
