WTB: Mitsubishi I

I'm looking at getting the Mitsubishi I and am wondering, how it will fare, when driving along the North South Highway.

 

Guys, would appreciate it if people don't tell me to get another car coz of [ insert reasons ], and keep comments strictly to the I.

Not sure about the i, but my first car was a Mitsubishi Pajero Mini. Also a kei-car and 660cc. Furthest I ever went was Malacca with four in the car. Yes, some trucks did zoom past me en route...

Fond memories of that car, which I drove for 5 and a half years.

If u plan to do NSH driving, tink you're better off getting a bigger (and possibly cheaper) car. The Mit I is a city car. Drove one ard the city and at 60-70kmh oredi the 660cc engine sounds damn loud and buzzy. Can't imagine doing 110kmh or more along NSH in it....

Should not be a problem in NSH as long as you drive within the speed limit. In NSH you might have seen Kancil or similar car with a 660cc engine zooming around. So, do not worry too much on cruising.

 

However, like other brothers have said it might not be comfortable for travelling in a small space for long distance and time.

I am more concerned about the attention that mit i might gather in malaysia. Also, with the engine at the rear, oil tank just below rear passenger seat (can really feel it), safety is a concern with road rages on NSH. To me personally, definitely a no no if u intend to go JB or any part of malaysia often.

Dont think that the fuel economy would be fantastic at typical speeds on NSH, plus given that the fuel tank on the i is not exactly big, think u would have to stop for fuel more often than usual.

I owned a Mitsubishi i, going towards 2 years. I absolutely loved it, my first car is Getz. Just few weeks ago, on Nationa Day that long weekend, I drove my gf back home to Batu Pahat in JB. We took the Tuas customs, took me about 1.5 hrs, at most 1hr 45mins to reach her house. I drove 80-90 most of the time, no problem with that.

 

Yeah, I'm also worried about the attention it will get because I don't think this car is being sold in Malaysia. Anyway, I parked at her father's house and then we drove her family's car. In fact, saw many SG cars in the malls, on the roads in that area but Im just worried about my small car getting too much attention.

 

Personally, I think this car is a city car, max. 3 hrs on the road might be ok but driving to KL, maybe not....at the moment, though bros are right, last time a lot of 650CC Kancil on the road. I have many malaysian colleagues also drive their Kancil from JB all the way to Genting Highlands. So I believe Mit. i can handle too, but sigh, just worried la.
