Everyone knows Civic FD is extremely overpriced, [thumbsdown] talk about value for money Avante or Frote at same category, talk about power and luxurious, same price can get Conti car [thumbsup]

but on our road Civic FDs become more and more, it's the trend to take over altis to rank the most popular car in Singapore [:(]

you drive an altis thus you concern?? [lipsrsealed]

hee hee anyway I guess it might do with Honda brand equity.

Toyota good quality car, but brand image more like family man and no life.......

Honda image like younger , more hip and more upmarket within Japanese car brand.

I like read in a car magazine before...." MPV is family man with no life, SUV for family man with life"....

The problem maybe due to it has it own beauty look, 2700mm wheelbase and has the badge of best reliability in ranking.

Not many or maybe none in the car market at this moment can over throne it's characteristics.

Maybe because of this trail, the dealer take advantage and markup the price. And when with such price, there are still willing ppls who willingly paying for that. With this, why whould they want to drop down their price?

We should blame it on the consumer. [lipsrsealed]

civic has been thru many generations so it's a household name in a way, popular with young ppl who has no qualms abt spending a large portion of $$$ on the car itself. and truly the i-vtec is more thrilling as compared to other jap cars.

fd R18 make 140hp, toyota 1.8L also make 140hp.

1 is ivtec, 1 is vvti. so wat it vtec? it still make the same amount of power.

they now only focus on good FC.

The most important factor here is H-badge is still made in Japan & the T-Badge is made in Thailand.

S'porean's mentality has been right so far and Japan-made QC has been proven to be far more superior compared to the Tom-yam ride, no matter what the manufacturers say.

Moreover, the styling, power of the i-VTEC & handling the the FD Civic is no doubt a winner compared to Toyota ALTIS anytime!

well..have you tried any of the K20 engine? no need 8000rpm..even the 7200rpm redline on the FD2 is very addictive..

Anyway, one of my army superior(who happens to be a car enthusiast and drives an alfa) commented that "Toyota makes cars for the masses while Honda makes cars for drivers". I find this quite true..Toyota is the best when it comes to making point A to B cars. Honda, on the other hand, have managed to position itself in the 'young, sporty and full of life' segment of the market..

actually, the OMV of Honda cars is high in the first place..so after tax and everything, there's nothing much KM can do..you can't expect dealers not to have profit right?

I believe someone here already pointed out that KM's profit margin is about the same as other japanese car dealers..

u go n drive a sir then drive your fd2 again then u tell me which is more addictive.

fd2 is a waste of time, using 12V until over 2k+ rpm than use all 16

family car mean family car.

of course cannot compare FD2 with SIR what..apple to orange..how to compare? just like FD2R and normal FD2..also cannot compare right? 1 is tuned for track while the other is tuned for everyday driving..

anyway, whether FD is overprice..argue until cow come home also cannot finish arguing..whether a certain product is overprices is subjective..if one can afford the car, it's never overpriced..it's only overpriced if one cannot afford it..

comparing Honda's 4 pot particularly the R18 and K20a with other jap makes, i would say Honda's is the nicest to drive. It is very free revving and even at close to the red line the engine is still silky smooth and doesn't feel stressed.

i guess its surely not as fun as the old sch vtec. i've never driven a fd2 before but sat in it a couple of times. engine seems quite smooth. but the price is abit too much to take though. there are more fun cars wif a price tag much lesser and abt the same.

end of the day, pple like pple buy. worth or not worth the price is very subjective.
