I sat in one at suntec

it looks like a mazda 3 with civic tail lights.

cabin nice but not as spacious as Optra.

Ya, not as spacious even compared to Forte but you are paying more for a Cruze and lesser equipments than Forte. I just dislike the old internal lock system. [thumbsdown]

went to the Ubi Show room today.. crowded. was told the price of the 1.6M is now $54999. end jan then got stock ..

good interior .. doesnt feel like a 1.6 to me :).. i was told the 1.6M FC is 13KM/L.. which i am quite skeptical .. overall.. good Korean made car ..

and they are getting better from the Avante to the Forte and now the Cruz .. Good Kimchi..

End Jan then got stock ah.... lucky i booked early. hee. its really a nice car, this could be a turning point for chevy in sg [angel]

I went to test drive the 1.6(A) Cruze today with a friend and these are our common views on the car.

The interior is really disappointing if u compare to Avante and Forte, and u pay more.

The engine sounds rough.

Handling is acceptable. Love the seats which hugs you, great for cornering.

1.6 vs 1.8 is abt $15k difference. Madness.

Overall, for that kind of pricing, i would rather get a Forte, Vios or Avante.

I drove a whole series of US sedans, from small PT cruiser to mid-sized Sebring etc. Basically the same - poor low quality crappy plastic interior, poor dashboard fitment, sluggish engines (at least for those small to 2.4L engines) that drone, and sluggish handling with suspension tuned way too soft.

Normal US sedans have a long way to go. But with the credit crunch, some may not have much time left if their domestic market don't turn around.

Agreed [thumbsup] I believe small turbo is the way to go. VW seem to be doing the right now by offering a wide range of engines, 1.4T and above.

There is still "no replacement for displacement" for the time being.

How reliable these small turbo-charged engines are is still a big question mark.

Will be worse off in Singapore as weather is hot and stop-start traffic will strain the engine further to the already highly stressed turbo.

Still remember the infamous Daihatsu Charade that come in NA and small turbo-charged versions. No prize for guessing which one is more reliable. The current 600+cc turbo Copen is being replaced by 1298cc NA engine in certain markets for greater reliability and fuel efficiency (yes, the 1298cc is more fuel economical compared to 600 + cc turbo).

Believe good power-to-weight ratio is far more important as far as driveability and fuel economy is concerned.

Good efforts and kudos to Fiat and VW though, keep it up and keep improving.

Bro, i got a call from my SE this afternoon mentioned that I've successfully got the bid of the current COE 18k, no additional charges going to be paid as they will be absorbing the remaining balance of 3k. Mostly will be able to get my key in the mid of Oct liao. I think it should be better you would directly call up your SE and check out the COE bidding. -_-
