Hoppie24 1st Gear June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 well, the 320d would probably do well in the UK only, especially with car taxes there pegged at the CO2 emissions of the car, but from what i know, in other European countries, it's only appropriate that people buy a car that reflects up to 20% of the person's annual salary, anything more, the person is regarded to be a show-off and will be ostracized by society.... and most BMW's or Mercedes-Benz are bought as fleet cars, few are privately owned.... errr.......people in SG buys car up to 100% of a person's Annual Salary..............wow lao eh............i better sell my car now and buy a QQ, wait! QQ is more than 20% my annual income! s--t!!!!! help help help!

Coupecabriolet Clutched June 3, 2010 Share June 3, 2010 how many cars that you know of, drives and handles like a BMW but has FC like this 320d? although the road test was unable to meet the claimed figures, but how many of us actually managed to put paper FC to reality...? read the comments on the youtube video on fifth gear web tv review of the 320d.. sums alot of things up. other car makers sacrifice many other aspects of the car to have improved fuel economy. in this case, BMW managed to try and retain its prime reason why others choose BMW - sheer fun during the drive and its handling (ok minus the badge reason )

Looks like u r still living in ur own world. Let me enlighten u slightly. In UK (where both the segment & article comes from), it is normal for company to have fleet vehicle. From 2nd yr onward, VED for 320d ED is 20 pound whereby 320d is 90 pound. For a fleet of 100 vehicles, what is the amount of saving? What car in this range pays that low VED? In addition, combined fuel consumption for 320d ED is 4.1L/100km whereby 320d is 4.7L/100km. From a company perspective, please tell how much is the saving? Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 6, 2010 Share June 6, 2010 now the 335d does make sense to me, but not the 320ed....
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 6, 2010 Share June 6, 2010 So what car you driving now? 100% of your annual salary? nope i don't own a car as of yet, but driving around my parents car occasionally.... and please, a normal Forte probably cost more than my annual salary and many others too.... obviously in Singapore's context (again all about where you live), it's impossible to get a car at 20% salary levels.... that's why many people take loan on their cars.... inlinesix Hypersonic June 7, 2010 Share June 7, 2010 now the 335d does make sense to me, but not the 320ed.... Why not if the price of 320 & 320d ED is the same? 320d ED torque is higher than 320. In addition, 320d ED has better FC than 320. Lastly, 320d ED does not lose any of its BMW characteristic.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 7, 2010 Share June 7, 2010 nope you're wrong.... the 320ed has a detuned 2.0Turbo 164bhp diesel engine compared to the 320d with a 2.0Turbodiesel 184bhp engine....though torque figures remain the same for both cars.... anyway, the 320ed only comes with manual gear lah.... i prefer the auto version in the 320d or 323d....if i really have to buy a 3-series....
