Congrate Spurs!

Last season, you see lots of passing ball game in Liverpool, just like the Gunners. But on Sunday game, you see lots of long crosses. Why? With Alonso not around, I dont think it is an excuse. There were games he missed last season and Reds still won! He is not a one-man team. I think Liverpool really need to get a striker, look at Spurs, 2 on the field and 2 sitting on the bench, what a "luxury".

In gist, Spurs deserved all the 3 points. They are the better side over the 90 min and Liverpool was totally clueless in the first half.

Apart from Pepe who saved us from embarrassment, Benayoun is the other bright spark imho. What he did in that 15 min or so is 10 times more than Bable did for the entire game. Glen has a great debut - strong defensively and added a much attacking thrust from the right.

Lucas did well and I expect him to continue to progress. We should not compare him to Alonso as they are different. Apple cannot compare with orange.

Rednapp did something in my opinion, very brilliant tactically. He got his team to pressure hard in the final 3rd and forced us to resort to long balls. Without Alonso, no one will be able to pass long and still pick up players with accuracy, hence conceding possession easily, especially in the first half.

Rafa will have to think of a way to counter this. One way is to drop Gerrard to midfield or, which I think is more likely what he will and should do, play Benayoun from the start to add that trickery and creativity in midfield to move the ball upfield with short passes and clever movement.

Rafa is 2 signings short for this season. A defensive cover and one star attacking player to partner Torres upfront to take pressure off him.

We finished 2nd to the devils last season not because of loses like that, but rather the home draws. Hence, I will be more worried if we failed to pick up 3 points against Stoke at Anfield for the next match.

Yes that is the way man. When play lousy n lost the match, admit it n move on. Dun be like some red nose saying "the better team lost" Duno what Rafa is ranting about. The fact is that Liverpool is totally outplay and dun deserve anything from this match. Still acting like a small kid during post match interview. He should be thinking of how to get solve the prob after Alonso left.

This year there will be top 6 in Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Spurs.

And the top 6 looks more even compared with last year....

Man U is definitely weakened with the departure of CR7 and Tevez.

Liverpool will see how Aquilani step into the shoes of Alonso and adjust to English football.

Arsenal is brilliant in the first game, but will be too immature to be consistent in 38 games ... also with such a young and small squad, let's see how they cope when injuries and suspension sets in.

Chelsea did not sell any player, and have basically the same squad as last season. If Ancellotti can get the diamond right, They will be the strongest of the top 6.

Man City is still looking to add players to their squad. They are up there with the top 4 on paper. But they need a world class coach to bring them there.... sadly Mark Hughes is not.

Spurs have a big squad of good players. If they can play like the way they played in the first game, with the injured Dawson, Woodgate, Jenas, Chimbonda, Hutton, etc back... they are very sound defensively and offensively (with the 4 international strikers).

As for Everton and Aston Villa....

Everton need to sell Lescott or they will self destruct like Spurs did last season when Berbatov caused chaos internally, and then sold on the last day of the transfer window.

Aston Villa looks like they sorely missed Gareth Barry. With a small squad, they will struggle to be in the top half.

Surprise package - watch out for Fulham (under Roy Hodgson) and West Ham (under Gianfranco Zola) they dont have big names signing, but they get 3 points quietly and climb the table.

Relegation candidates - too many to contend .... to name a few who will be fighting relegation - Hull, Stoke, Wigan, Bolton, Sunderland, Birmingham ...... practically every team below the top 8 will be fighting relegation.

i hope spurs win tonite... keep up the good work against pool where we won...n deserving too even though gomes cocked up, Hudds still not up to the best standards n spurs still keep giving away balls cheaply.

IMHO, Spurs still need another creative midfielder, Wesly Sneider or Rafael Van Der Vart? Anyone?
