Sturtles 6th Gear August 14, 2009 Share August 14, 2009 Hi Guys, I just got a call from a headhunting company at my office saying so and so MNC is inviting me for an interview due to recommendation from someone within the manufacturing industry. However, the role of the job to put simply, is a sales position, albeit with a wider scope but in a sort of sunset sector of the industry. Not doubting my capabilities, but are there hoaxes or misleading calls going around in the market recently? I've got plenty of recruitment calls from financial consultant firms and the likes, so its definitely not a "green" experience for me. ↡ Advertisement

I received calls from Headhunters too, says recommendations from some ppl of the industry. I turn her down politely because I'm happy with current job and company. If you have plans to leave, y not? Take it as an opportunity, nothing to lose anyway.
Drive_carcar Clutched August 14, 2009 Share August 14, 2009 Headhunters don't always have great jobs, some are literally clowns. Not that long ago, I received a call from a self-claimed headhunter. The fella on the line spoke with a very heavy India accent, and obviously know nothing of my background. To add insult to injury, he was trying to look for contract windows system administrator - very entry level job. Still got the cheek to tell me he's a headhunter. Not sure who sabo me and gave them my contacts.
Ladykillerz 4th Gear August 14, 2009 Share August 14, 2009 this should be a recommendation.. a headhunt is somehow willing to pay someone much higher in order to get the smartie.. a recommendation is usually more of a job agency's tactic to close a fast deal.. Not sure who sabo me and gave them my contacts. I received this type of calls too. Some of them call from India. The most outrageous one was one guy offering me a "PBC tester" position with a minimum requirement of an ITE cert. He said he had read my resume on Monster and found me very suitable for the position. What the heck, even my junior also exceed the requirements by leaps and bounds, still got the cheek to say he had read my resume. TMD waste my time. Cheepo 3rd Gear August 15, 2009 Share August 15, 2009 Technically speaking these people are not "Headhunters". Yes, they work in the recruitment industry but are just fishing for candidates that roughly fit the clients' orders. Your name is probably one of many given to them by one of your colleagues who rejected their offer. Other than that they do not know you well enough to "headhunt" you. Don't be surprise if after the interview you find that they do not even have a position for you. The other shocking thing you will find is that the interviewer is 19-25 years old sweet young thing who does not know a thing about your industry. She will simply try to see if your CV has some key words found in the client's job description. On your way out of the interview room, she will also ask you for the names of a few of your colleagues of people who might be interested in the job. Jeff49er Clutched August 15, 2009 Share August 15, 2009 If a headhunter were to call you, he must have at least some idea or two that you have the background for a certain job and then follow up with emailing you the job scope. And from the job scope you can find out if you have the credential for the job...etc How I know, is because I am a headhunter for the past 8 years. U may find consultants in the 20s and all likelihood the recruitment agencies hired them tangling the chance to make good sales. Headhunters are another breed and they do more on executive level type of jobs.
