First of all, i have nothing against cats. Want to know what do people who have stray cats in their neighborhood prevent them from using your car as Dunlop.

I've tried lifting the wipers after I park, obstacle for them to climb up frm bonnet. My car is hatchback, so difficult for them to mount the roof from the rear. This does not work though.

First of all, i have nothing against cats sleeping on my ride. Have seen one slept above the boot previously. Realised that it leaves no traces behind so I am perfectly ok with it.

So far I have not heard b4 cats scratching the paint work of a car. Do they?

Cats don't actually scratch the paint - remember that cats generally retract their claws when calm. Only need to worry if you do stuff to stress them out like chasing them off the car. :)

Besides, they look so cute sleeping there, why discourage them? Disclaimer: I'm a cat lover.

the only time I know a cat has slept on my car is when I see the paw prints on the windscreen and sometimes some fur on the roof.

no issues with them sleeping on my car, I like pussy ...

Cats do scratch the car paint!!! While walking to my car, saw a cat sleeping on the boot. On seeing me, it jumped off the boot hurrily, leaving distintive scratches on the boot. Three white lines. My car was maroon red colour.

Lucky my car was rear ended later on and the boot was replaced.

i guess its better to make some noise way before you reach the car to let the cat know you are approaching.(Cats have sensitive ears). So by the time you are near, the cat will probably run away already. So far cats sleep on my car and my neighbours'.all no problem of scratches.(unless if you startle it) [shocked]

Usually u can tell where are their favourite spots, for my case there are few "regulars" who like to hang around the same spot.

Just park further away from there.

Can try pouring some dog urine around your car, the smell should keep the cats away.

yes... this is true and quite effective. [laugh]

but you have to find a dog 1st.

Turbocharged

I love pussies, the 4-legged kind. And of course, I like the 2-legged kind too. [laugh][smash]

To prevent them from scuttling and thus, maybe leave a couple of light scratches on your car top (depends on how scared they are), maybe you can do the following:

1. Make some noise (like whistle, play with car keys) 20m away while you walk towards the car. The cat should be sensitive enough to pick up that sound, and then do their yawn, lazy feline back arch stretch and slowly saunter off your car. [laugh]

or

2. invest some time to befriend the cat esp when it is not sleeping on your car. approach slowly, squat down, speak softly to it, sayang it if it allows. basically how you will approach a young baby who will cry at the sight of a stranger. Then you will find your BP go down a little everytime you sayang it. Then once you have befriended it, it will always recognise your footstep, keychain sound etc and will not scuttle everytime you approach the car. However, they will still do the yawn, lazy feline back stretch and slowly saunter off your car. [laugh]

Actually, the worst is if the cat likes to sleep under cars. My block cat does that often and I always have to check under the car before I get in. [dead] I am a good friend of her though. My fav pussy downstairs. [laugh]
