Zyrofillica 1st Gear August 2, 2009 Share August 2, 2009 (edited) My electronic remote gate key for my house is spoilt. I've been looking for places to purchase a similar one and have tried a few car accessory shops selling those car electronic keys but they are charging me $80 for one! Anyone knows where i may find a simple electronic gate key like the one pictured at a non cut throat price?? My gate vendor is charging $100 for replacement keys! Berncsp76 6th Gear August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 Hi you may try 1 shop in Marina Square, near to the John Little outlet. Is a booth right outside JL. I thk you will be able to get a duplicate for less than $50. Btw, there are also some shops in JB that can help to do a replicate for you. But please avoid those dubious shops as it involves your home. I went to have mine done at Jusco Tebrau (locksmith shop on the 2nd floor) for RM$80 only. Comnao 1st Gear August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 try the key lock and shoe smith at turf city next to entrance of giant helpful and knowledgable guy but be prepared to pay for his helpfulness ... nevertheless still within reasonable range

Nts0408 Neutral Newbie August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 You can try the shop called Fortress Mechanics at Enterprise Centre (Bukit Batok). Tel: 64543711. I get them to replace my auto-gate and the price is reasonable. U may need to bring a working sample so that they can tune new new set to the same frequency. Berncsp76 6th Gear August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 haha...relax lah bro...is the same mindset as those locksmith that you see at those roadside or those u engage to open your door when u forget to bring your home...there are too many of them so not really that risky..the only risk is that smaller and unreputed shops may carry more risks as they may harbour such thoughts... Antisocial August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 bro, after buying the remote, how are you going to sync it with your existing alarm? doesn't mean you have the remote you can use it (unless you sync it) don't want you to buy and end up cannot use! you might have to pay $100 to your gate installer as i'm sure he knows how to sync the alarm with his set of remote cheers! For electronic remote gate key, you have to open it to see the setting in it. The setting should be in binary eg. either 0 or 1. Comparing with your old key and set your new key according. All the best and Good luck.
Zyrofillica 1st Gear August 3, 2009 Author Share August 3, 2009 yup thanks for the replies. I will check out the shops recommended. I already opened up my key and i know how to set the frequency. Just that its such a simple device that i can DIY, rather than get chop the extra crazy priced service charges to set the frequency. i think if i'm able to purchase this remote and do it myself would be the best option. looks like everyday have to climb gate when i come home late lol~
Kianbeng Clutched August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 I would think $100 is a reasonable price. I believe what he has quoted to you, is 2 remotes + 1 receiver. He will put the receiver inside the box near to the gate. For $50, I think you're probably getting 1 remote? Many of the car remotes, are tuned like a dial switch. The autogate remotes, are dip switches.
Nts0408 Neutral Newbie August 3, 2009 Share August 3, 2009 It is better to double check with the seller about compatibility of the new and old. I remember my previous shop told me that there are several thousands combinations for auto-gate key. Not all the keys are having same frequency range. By setting the dip switches may not get you to the same frequency. I may be wrong but it is good to check first.
Adrianli Hypersonic August 4, 2009 Share August 4, 2009 Why not pay a visit to Sim Lim Tower and get it there??? There are more than one shop over there able to duplicate such remote. Lots of poly + uni students go there to get such stuff for their projects. Some even ask the shop owner to provide them with instructions so that its easier for them. Zyrofillica 1st Gear August 4, 2009 Author Share August 4, 2009 naw, $100 is just the price for a 1 replacement remote. sure thing, ill remember to bring along the old remote to check for compatability, oh and thanks for the simlim tower suggestion~ ↡ Advertisement
