Shao Hsing Hua Tiao Cooking Wine expert?

Hi all,

 

When I shop for Shao Hsing Hua Tiao Cooking Wine, I'm amused about the price differences between brands.

 

For roughly 640ML bottle, it could be as low as S$2, then from S$3.60, S$5.10 to even S$10.50. The alcohol content is betwen 17, 17.5 to 18% (mostly 18%).

 

In JB, the cheapest is around RM8 to RM17. Again, all different brands from that those I saw in SG supermarket.

 

Anyone, prefer certain brand when come to using them?

i thk the diff is in the salt content .... seems the expensive brand has lower salt content.

 

is it the "meihua" brand one ??

 

I just stick to the cheaper ones i can get at sheng shiong or giant .... just put more to enhance the fragrance. But i thk the more ex one shud have a stronger fragrance even when u use smaller amounts.

 

btw, i was "introduced" to huatiow cooking wine when i had my favourite fried fish "muay" ... but the cook that used to prepare it at my canteen had left the stall and now the standard dropped until i dun go there anymore.

just get the "mei hua" brand, others just CMI
