Yeobh 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 That's why ambulances, police petrol cars, and even taxis batteries need to be charges by external chargers when they return back to base workshops.Looks like there is a potential new business in Spore - battery loan & charging outlets ↡ Advertisement
Yeobh 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 (edited) Most of the car worskhops and battery shops are reluctant to charge battery slowly as packing the cars infront or in the workshops cost money and take up too much space. So much so most of them restort to fast charging sometime setting as high as 20 amp and thereafter cool the battery by pouring over it. Yeobh 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 At 70% charge, you still can turn the engine over depending on the engine conditions and CC capacity.
Trex101 3rd Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 You can try reconditioning . The Ctek Xs7000 has it. Read more here- http://www.ctek.com/EN-GB/Buy-Charger.aspx?charger=mxs7000 I had with me a nanopulsar electronic desulfator, without that i think my 5yr old battery would be long dead. I just want to add a solar charger, see if the charge can maintain longer or not, if not cannot start will be abit troublesome, i'm hoping to prolong the charge to 10-11 days would be the best. I thought of DIY one but too lazy to do it, that why i choose to buy 1 solar type instead. There's a article on how to make one though. Yeobh 4th Gear July 27, 2009 Share July 27, 2009 Solar panel cells for car battery chargers due to price constraint defintely will not be of premium quality. Also most of the solar car battery charger output range from 5 to 8 watt max in other words they perform like trickle chargers. Also their outputs are correlated to sun rays temp & angle to the panels.

Gnahp Turbocharged August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 Currently I am using 2 batteries, one in the car and the other hook up to a CTEK battery charger at home. I swap them whenever I change the engine oil, roughly about every 4 months.
5936 1st Gear August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 Modern MF batteries, if replaced on a 2 year cycle, should not give you any batter problem. If you still feel unsecure and worry about flat battery, It would make more sense to carry an emergency jump starter with build in batteries. What can you do when you have a flat battery, and you are outside?

Tigershark1976 Turbocharged August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 (edited) If you parked your car in the open then this device might be of interest fto you, it's a 2w solar charger. I just ordered mine through one of my supplier, now still waiting for it's arrival. bro, what is the size of the solar panel?? 2W (167mA/hr) is rather slow for a car batt.... but if the solar panel is compact & economical, then its worth to invest! At such current, it may not be able to maintain the current drawn by the electrical component but definately help to make the battery last a bit longer Edited August 2, 2011 by Tigershark1976
Gnahp Turbocharged August 2, 2011 Share August 2, 2011 I have a battery load tester, will junk the battery before it is too late. One battery caught me off guard 4 years ago, I had to ask another car owner for help to jump start the engine and drove home to replace the battery.
