Called up Starhub and was told that for 1 point to extend to my bedroom, cost S$139.00. Is it normal price? Thought read somewhere that nowaday the cost around S$50.00? Mine is 4 room HDB and not private / landed. Consider expensive?

Anyone can recommend alternative contractor? can help to advise?

Thanks..

I believe the Starhub S$139 package comes with warranty and high quality cable. And they will provide support when u encounter problems.

I have the $50 type in one of my rooms. Cable used is those cheapo type (damn light in weight, i suspect the shielding isn't that good). I have problems receiving Channel U in that room sometimes, and Starhub modem totally cannot work at all when plugged into this socket.

If i were you i would take the $139 option.

I can do the cabling for you using the official equipment for cheaper than the stated price but more than $50 depending on the complexity but I think i'm too lazy to do it especially if it requires drilling through walls etc. so i think you should just take $139. for $50 one please dont, i have customers that cant receive signal at all through the $50 one causing much trouble as they have to pay for additional troubleshooting fees when they try to install modems etc using the 'unauthorized' point. PM me if you need help.

Most of the time poor signals are caused by the splitters, especially so if you buy from neighbourhood shops.

I got most of my stuffs from Sim Lim Tower basement shops from cables to splitters. My living room point has 1 in and 3 out, no distortions.

2 points are actively running, while the last is whenever I need to record.

Most of the costs are fixed, it's the length of the cable that adds up.

I have been doing that for years already. Just connect the RCA cable from the set top box to the DVR and record. The digital set top box comes with two RCA cable output. One can go directly to the TV and another to the DVR.

That is correct. You can only record watever channel that is being selected by you on the set top box. You cannot record one channel watch another.

The programs on SCV is always repeated, so I just set my recorder to record the shows in the early hours of the day. There is a auto-tune feature in the set top box which will help you change channel at your specific time. I use that to switch to the correct channel while I am sleeping and the recorder is recording.

During weekdays, I have to work and got no time to view the programs. So I just view the program guide and look for interesting programs and then set to record them. During the weekends then watch the programs and can skip all the commercials. Normally History(401), NGC(411), Discovery Turbo(426) and CI(403) are 2mins commercial break. Discovery(422) and BBC Knowledge(407) are 3mins. My recorder has a Commercial Skip button, each press is 30secs, so I just press 4 times and I skip 2mins of commercial break. :D If I am travelling, I just burn them into a DVD RW and watch them on the go on my portable DVD player or Laptop.
