It may be a brake alignment issue. Go to another trusted workshop to get a second opinion.

Another area to monitor your brake pad usage is your brake fluid. If it hits the minimum marker, then it might be time to change your pads soon.

Pai seh.. where or how to check for brake fluid ah?

Thanks. Car is now 4yrs plus old so out of warranty. I had an outside mechanic service the brakes, flush and renew the brake fluid about 3 months back. Their only comment was that the brake pad was still quite thick and so just monitor after the brake fluid change. Tyre is 205-50-16 S Drive, used about 10K km in mostly expressway driving.

I think if the brake pad still quite thick. Then it's the brake pad issue.Cause by right, brake pad that wear off faster will have a better braking power.I may be wrong, but technically it should be the way.no?

The brake fluid is contained somewhere inside the engine bay behind the power steering fluid container. Different makes of cars varies.

Get your reliable mechanic to check for you.

I would think most workshops can install for you, but at what price is subjective (whether if you are regular, anyone recommend, big or small workshop, etc) bah. If you want to have a feel of the pricing, go to Autobacs or stamford tyres and ask for their installation charges. That should be a fair gauge.

workshops in JB charge RM$30, cheap and great service ! Just walk in any workshop and give them the parts and they will do it on the spot.

Ya, buy the pad yourself and pay for labor will be much cheaper than letting the workshop quote. I bought mine for $95 and pay labor $30. Workshop quoted me $180.
