Galileo Neutral Newbie July 20, 2009 Share July 20, 2009 (edited) Hi, Anyone knows is bike rack with mountain bikes mounted allow to pass the SGP custom? When coming back SGP custom, the officer will normally ask you to open the boot for check but are they going to request the bikes to be dismounted for boot checking? Thinking of doing biking at mountainous fruit farm trail at Batu Pahat. Edited July 20, 2009 by Galileo ↡ Advertisement

Chickenbackside 1st Gear July 20, 2009 Share July 20, 2009 Just get the roof mounted racks. Thule has a good selection. I have this: http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept_id=8&sku=598 combined with this: http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept...&sku=400XTR And if I can help it, I would never use anything else. It's easy to mount (takes 10 secs to mount and secure) and very stable on the move, doesn't scratch your car. No more worrying about your bikes falling off your car with boot mounted racks. Emkay 1st Gear July 20, 2009 Share July 20, 2009 why not consider roof rack? I used to go JB for off road biking but I just remove both wheels and put the bike in the trunk.
Galileo Neutral Newbie July 20, 2009 Author Share July 20, 2009 But I already got the Saris Bones rear rack. If I wanted to switch to roof rack I still need to install the roof frame for the rack to be mounted.
Chickenbackside 1st Gear July 20, 2009 Share July 20, 2009 Well, don't you have to install your Saris Bone everytime you want to transport your bikes too? The difference is that, 1) you can leave the roof rack permanently on your roof if you like 2) it solves your problem of not having to dismount your bikes every time you pass through customs Hitch mounted bike racks are unfortunately illegal in Singapore. So it's actually very simple. Either you use a boot rack, or a roof rack. If you are unwilling to use a roof rack, then you just have to use a boot rack and live with unloading your bikes at customs. Galileo Neutral Newbie July 20, 2009 Author Share July 20, 2009 Tks for the info bro. Btw may I know what is the damage for your setup? The 400XTR - Rapid Aero together with the 598 - Criterium?
Chickenbackside 1st Gear July 20, 2009 Share July 20, 2009 Anytime bro. I bought the setup in 2004. 2 racks (for 2 bikes) + 2 aero rails + a set of legs = just above $1k. ↡ Advertisement
