Karebu 1st Gear July 13, 2009 Share July 13, 2009 cannot cannot. i think there was once, quite long ago the mods tried banning IP. Ended up quite a few users (starhub) affected. I remember getting a pink bar across the top of the page saying I was either not authorized or banned. didn't even load the MCF logo or login boxes. Dunno Neutral Newbie July 13, 2009 Share July 13, 2009 If anyone here is a mod yourself, you will understand the pain and time taken to monitor these people (which I call "flame starters"). Hey, mods don't get paid for moderating a forum but it's their job to ensure that there isn't abuse of any members, personal attacks ,etc. Minor things like big avatars, long signatures, etc, which flout forum rules can still be tolerated. Personal attacks, insensitive remarks, etc are a BIG No No in any forum. They may also bring legal issues to the forum as a whole. If anyone talks about "2nd chance" if someone were to register a new nick and behave themselves. I'm telling you it ain't going to happen. Why? Simply because there were so many freaking chances already given over more than one year, for crying out loud! Enough is enough...even appealing to HDB for parking offences also don't get so many chances As moderators, they have to draw a very clear line between offences that can "close one eye" and offences that deserves banning. Worse when there are people who cheer them on... Back then the posts were more constructive and informative, where there's really sharing of knowledge. That works most of the time unless there are some particularly nasty cookies(and other stuff) involved but a smart guy can remove those trackers easily. Just an idea, besides weeding out, a suggestion for Mods if this idea is possible or not. I think when first join, the rank is Newbie, cannot start thread. How about limiting the number of replies? PM don't need to restrict but posting replies can be restricted? This will stop chalking up useless posts and make person posting think what he post must be useful? just 2 cents. so maybe my idea is hard to implement or counter productive. Thanks.
