Shull Turbocharged July 13, 2009 Share July 13, 2009 Having DRL, doesn't mean you have to switch it on when plying Singapore roads. There is no law here require us to do so here . Our weather is not as foggy nor cloudy here. So either you call it "trend setting" in a nice way or simply a "show off" to some. Regards, i think DRLs worked like motorcycle headlight..the moment you on your car, it turn on itself.. ↡ Advertisement
Kelpie 2nd Gear July 13, 2009 Share July 13, 2009 i think DRLs worked like motorcycle headlight..the moment you on your car, it turn on itself.. Yes, you're correct. We're discussing whether this DRL is an option or a standard feature and whether it worth the 10k so that you can have a DRL? Regards,
Kelpie 2nd Gear July 13, 2009 Share July 13, 2009 That time when i went to the Lauch, the SE told me the standard ones cost 139k. If you want the package with DRL and all, will be 149K. That was last year Aug i think.. now im not so sure.. So you're saying that the 10K Option is a package and DRL is only one of the features? Chrispie 5th Gear July 13, 2009 Author Share July 13, 2009 The 10k option includes S-line, bigger rims etc.. and DRL is one of the things that comes it.

One of my colleagues who is a UK expat driving company altis always keep his stock headlights on regardless of day and night. His rationale is for safety purposes to ensure everyone on the road in front can see him. I cannot fault his reasoning even though I dont practise it myself. Limbat 1st Gear December 27, 2009 Share December 27, 2009 I agree that DDLs are really a safety issue - some drivers need a peace of mind to drive, similar with ABS system in cars.
Samnet Clutched November 10, 2010 Share November 10, 2010 totally agree. it really makes a vehicle more visible. knowing how blind many drivers can be. It's not supposed to be glaring, just visible. Not sure when will our LTA realise the importance of such ruling and implement it.
Bummer 1st Gear November 10, 2010 Share November 10, 2010 DRLs are there for daytime use, so turning it off in the day doesn't make much sense. It's a safety thing, not for showing off. When you look down a glaring road, e.g. sun low in the sky and the road has just been wet, an oncoming car with DRLs can be spotted much earlier and easier than one without. This is important especially if you want to turn into the same lane as the oncoming car. In Norway and Sweden, before DRLs, drivers had to turn on their headlights by law. Even in Australia they encourage it. Too many dodo drivers in Singapore who don't have enough awareness of their surroundings.
Ckchong8 1st Gear November 10, 2010 Share November 10, 2010 Any stock light is legal however the same stock light fixing into the same old model will need to obtain an approval from LTA.

Kangadrool Supersonic November 10, 2010 Share November 10, 2010 Why install DRL? Just switch on the headlights will do.
Crazecow Neutral Newbie November 11, 2010 Share November 11, 2010 Talking about turning on headlights during day time, it works only if its bright enough. I see some motorcycles have rather dim headlights, I barely see any light from them in the day. As for daytime LED or whatever lights, I personally don't think its necessary cause its very bright here in SG. Can see very easily.
Zuoom 1st Gear November 11, 2010 Share November 11, 2010 DRL basically works. same idea for bikes to have their lights on as soon as the engine is started.

Voxy28 3rd Gear January 20, 2011 Share January 20, 2011 (edited) I just wonder why people like to dress-up their cars like a XMAS tree. Seeing more Audi A4 chaps like to switch on their front LED stripes during daytime. Singapore day time too dark is it ? Sorry, can't help thinking that it is just plain "show off" without practical purpose. Regards, Hee hee the Audi LEDs a bit beng too. But BMW got angel eyes... DRL is for safety, nothing to do with dark or bright. THe worst type are those CBK who dont turn on their lights at night bec want to save fuel. Tomsss Neutral Newbie January 21, 2011 Share January 21, 2011 THe worst type are those CBK who dont turn on their lights at night bec want to save fuel. Sometimes bo bian, some newer cars their instrument panel light up like christmas tree even at night, giving you that assumption that you're night lights are on. Coupled with the brillant lighting on our streets, you don't even realise until you actually come to a stop in front of a car and you wonder "eh? why so dark? ohh.... *click click" ↡ Advertisement
