Having DRL, doesn't mean you have to switch it on when plying Singapore roads. There is no law here require us to do so [thumbsup] here . Our weather is not as foggy nor cloudy here. So either you call it "trend setting" in a nice way or simply a "show off" to some.

Regards,

i think DRLs worked like motorcycle headlight..the moment you on your car, it turn on itself..

Yes, you're correct. We're discussing whether this DRL is an option or a standard feature and whether it worth the 10k so that you can have a DRL?

That time when i went to the Lauch, the SE told me the standard ones cost 139k. If you want the package with DRL and all, will be 149K. That was last year Aug i think.. now im not so sure..

So you're saying that the 10K Option is a package and DRL is only one of the features?

Its not show off lah... One of my colleagues who is a UK expat driving company altis always keep his stock headlights on regardless of day and night. His rationale is for safety purposes to ensure everyone on the road in front can see him. I cannot fault his reasoning even though I dont practise it myself.

totally agree. it really makes a vehicle more visible. knowing how blind many drivers can be.

It's not supposed to be glaring, just visible.

Not sure when will our LTA realise the importance of such ruling and implement it.

DRLs are there for daytime use, so turning it off in the day doesn't make much sense. It's a safety thing, not for showing off.

When you look down a glaring road, e.g. sun low in the sky and the road has just been wet, an oncoming car with DRLs can be spotted much earlier and easier than one without. This is important especially if you want to turn into the same lane as the oncoming car. In Norway and Sweden, before DRLs, drivers had to turn on their headlights by law. Even in Australia they encourage it.

Too many dodo drivers in Singapore who don't have enough awareness of their surroundings.

Talking about turning on headlights during day time, it works only if its bright enough. I see some motorcycles have rather dim headlights, I barely see any light from them in the day.

As for daytime LED or whatever lights, I personally don't think its necessary cause its very bright here in SG. Can see very easily.

I just wonder why people like to dress-up their cars like a XMAS tree. Seeing more Audi A4 chaps like to switch on their front LED stripes during daytime. Singapore day time too dark is it :D ? Sorry, can't help thinking that it is just plain "show off" without practical purpose.

Hee hee the Audi LEDs a bit beng too. But BMW got angel eyes... [:p]

DRL is for safety, nothing to do with dark or bright.

THe worst type are those CBK who dont turn on their lights at night bec want to save fuel.

Sometimes bo bian, some newer cars their instrument panel light up like christmas tree even at night, giving you that assumption that you're night lights are on. Coupled with the brillant lighting on our streets, you don't even realise until you actually come to a stop in front of a car and you wonder "eh? why so dark? ohh.... *click click" [sweatdrop]
