Beanoyip Turbocharged July 10, 2009 Share July 10, 2009 Car just passed 3yrs and expected, the problems are stacking up. I hear a unusually noisy engine while idle, turn off A/C still the same. Could it be fan/engine mounting loose etc? Existing pre-09 Superb owners can comment if your engine sounds like this at idle? Maybe i can do a recording of the engine noise and post here. ↡ Advertisement
Echelon 3rd Gear July 14, 2009 Share July 14, 2009 My is passing 3 years by September, currently 105,000 km already, did all the major servicing at 92,000 km. Have been running well, still as punchy and seems to be running smoother. Lowered my ride and on stiffer suspensions and firmer ride. Overall still enjoying it, brakes are ok so is the overall drive. Off topic: Tempted to throw in a KO4(Recon) and new injectors plus a Stage 3 update. No need coolant or cat back exhaust....will push to 240 horse and 340Nm. For 1300$ very tempted. Fortress Clutched July 15, 2009 Share July 15, 2009 You might like to describe the sound or record and update it here so we can help. At this car age/mileage of yours, problems with tensioner and bearings within the belts areas are quite common.
Koolaba 1st Gear July 17, 2009 Share July 17, 2009 Hi Beano, Our ride is still running fine without any abnormal noise. Mileage is currently 65,000km. In all honesty, the Superb is definitely more trouble-free than our previous S40.
Koolaba 1st Gear July 17, 2009 Share July 17, 2009 Hi, When I last spoke to Jason, I am told that HA is looking into importing the common rail (CR) 2.0 TDI Euro 5 version of the Superb. This will be one great ride to have. Next in the pipeline could be the facelifted Euro 5 Octavia 1.6 CR TDI. Based on your vehicle utilisation, you will be better off getting a diesel ride. Recently I have chanced upon a diesel wholesaler, Mecpec, who is retailing Esso Synergy Diesel at 80 cents/l. This is 50% cheaper than the retail prices at the usual petrol pumps. The price differential is almost 83 cents/l compared to the current RON95 petrol pricing. Did a comparison of the operational cost (road tax + fuel bills) of a 1.4 TSI (with a claimed FC of 6.3l/100km) and a 1.6 CR TDI (4.5l/100km). Factoring in the wholesale diesel price & the diesel supplementary tax, one will break even if you cover at least 35,000km annually. I am very keen in getting a diesel, but provided that the pricing is right. If LTA decides to reduce the diesel supplementary tax for Euro 5 diesel vehicles further, the break-even mileage point will come in earlier.
Try_conti 2nd Gear July 18, 2009 Share July 18, 2009 wow .... even 1.6 CR TDI ? What's the bhp/torque specs for the 1.6 CR TDI ? I thought they only have the 1.9 CR TDI ?
Koolaba 1st Gear July 19, 2009 Share July 19, 2009 Hi TM, The 1.9 TDIs are all based on the Pumpe Duse (PD) technology, which no longer meets the more stringent emission standards. Starting Sep 2009, all new vehicles sold in the EU must comply with the Euro 5 standards. (In Singapore, it is min Euro II and Euro IV for petrol and diesel vehicles respectively). The 1.6 and 2.0 CR TDI are new diesel powerplants which fulfil the Euro 5 standards. Torque and Power specs for the 1.6 CR TDI Power: 77kw (105PS) / 4400 rpm Torque: 250Nm / 1500-2500 rpm
