Vios and Altis

They maybe the top reliable in the past, but if you go and see the ranking now, the most reliable car come from other brands. Their reliability level is even lower than Suzuki based on last year record. I can understand that the old folk still back in the past where police wear short mentality. Seem like some of their decendents still have such mentality too.

 

In the past, part are manufactured from the same factory itself. Nowadays. most of the car parts are subcontracted out. They use/share the same subcontracted with other brand like Hyundai, Sangyong....etc. So tell me why Toyota is better, not to mention the 2 models that are discussing now is made in Thailand?

 

toyota buyers dun really bother about the subcontract of parts thing. whatever behind the toyota door stuff spore drivers dun care. they just want a TOYOTA. and that's why it the no.1 car in this country.

Must say the car had it's faults as well though, the stock suspension was so soft and body roll was so apparent that I had to switch to Teins wihtin a month of taking ownership of that car. BUt if you're willing to spend a little money on mods, that car can be very satisfying indeed!

looks like u r someone who dun noe how to appreciate gd cars... i hav it for 2yrs+ and i'm loving more and more of it... vios is a car whereby u can mod and mod until nobody business but in order to save $$$, u need to noe wat is inside ur car... seat is gd and comfortable, i dun see steering wheel is off center... and moreover vios has the power compare to a 1.6l lancer... tink again, u r someone who dun noe much about cars and hav bought tis even after test drove it and u still dun noe wat u wan... it comes wif 2 airbags and 4 disc brakes for safety purpose, its FC is gd too if u noe the way to do it up... my fren do it up until so nice and even more fuel saving dan my NA wif a few tings in it only... anytime go into vogs and u will noe tat u r a frog in a well...

in terms of maintanence wise, u can save a lot wif '04 and '06 vios, look i am not toking about the new FL vios and i hate the new FL... looks like u are someone who only noe how to go back to AD for servicing and kana carrot everytime... comparing a 1.5l car wif other cars same range up to 1.6l, u cant get anyting better dan vios... btw, when buying a car it's not by looking at the brand.. it's how much u noe about the car and how u tink it will satisfied ur needs...

different ppl got different values for every car. No point comparing, end of the day as long as u are happy with it, why bother? Of course we might prefer this car over another car for some reasons but lets just keep the comments to ourselves instead of bashing which car is good, which car is bad. Peace

Its a grocery getter. Nothing to appreciate other than how it looks and its (relative to a car that is actually good) low price. Just a pt A to B transport like my Mazzie and Fiat.

I tested drive the new Vios last month and in my own opinion, the Vios has nothing to shout-of in terms of the latest price of over 55K I think it has been overpriced and one setback is the engine sound is really too noisy.

the cheapest model is selling close to 59k. i think it will hit 60k very soon. and that is only the basic J model. its indeed overpriced, but not as overpriced as the civic.

the only saving grace is the reliability of a Toyota ( i really trashed this car ) , but then again with the improvements if tech i don't see why other car should fare worst in the reliability dept.. the chances that any engine, gears, shocks will crack from normal use is close to zero, therefore brands don't matter IMO. maybe the little stuff like the auto windows, etc ...

 

so why pay 5k more? skip Toyota and go get a Hyundai or Kia. if you are on a budget.

 

vios is only an entry level car, so do not expect much.

I personally went for test drive for both Vios and Altis last year and they are 2 very different cars.

 

For Vios, I didn't really like it as the engine is pretty noisy resulting in much cabin noise. And the equipment is quite basic with nothing to shout about. For the price tag, I will rather go for a Korean car which promise more equipment and quieter engine.

 

For Altis, I was pleasantly surprised by the new model (2008) as I have always scorned it due to its ah pek design. I didn't even want to test drive it but i saw the car with the body kit and it looks pretty cool. And in the end I bought it on the spot as the engine is smooth and quiet, equipment is fantastic with DVD Touch screen HUD and etc. And the rear seats legroom is good as I have 2 frens testdriving with me and they gave me the thumbs up.

 

So all in all, if you want to buy a car, go for a test drive and see the chemistry flow between you and the car. You will eventually find the right one for you. Dun bother about the reliability or the popularity. What matters is whether you like it at all.

Vios is a very basic entry car .... everything given is very basic .. car space , interior design etc ..

 

Altis is a slightly better car in terms of general design and stuff .. impossible to compare.. as it is not apple to apple ..

 

but if u compare vios to avante to latio to cerato and axio .. maybe it is worth comparision
