my buddy in bmt failed course as he was physically weak and was a typical sabo king as termed my platoon.

in the end, he re-coursed and was posted to sispec. [thumbsup]

In my time.

My poly fren fail tankee driver course...end up saw gunner in the section.

Got one army mate fail scout course cos he cannot take the pressure.

Got one fail bike course

Got another army mate fail AI commander course, then posted out of armor

All of them got no injury....except for the AI fail suspected mental issues.

mediocre then how come ocs instructor? only top 10% can be ocs instructor iirc.

ehh.. maybe just plain lucky lor. When i was abt to pass out, there was the final PC interview. That time, 3rd Guards was opening its officers intake. And if you remember, before you pass out, you will be given a form to fill up, asking if your preferred posting is to Admin, Instructional or Combat.

My choice was 1. Instructional and 2. Combat. So my PC asked me, So, I shall let you choose. OCS Instructor or 3 Guards PC.

Ehh.. i think the choice for me was rather clear then.. :p

No change from 20 years ago here too.

Don't want to say too much about what goes on.

Myself never kenna PC apointment, just PS and CPS. hehe

Not going for SOH so no higher appointment. hehe

I think most of the SOMs will go to the CDOs... During my batch of 20 CDOs whom went to OCS, 15 came back with the SOH and SOMs... Is this the same for most of the intakes?

more or less.. i think your's is more.

reason is becos the CDOs already been through most of the mission types and more experience.

after BMT go in ocs better or after you got your bandung then go ocs better?

Neutral Newbie

I think its ALOT harder to fail than to pass.

They will keep drilling you for weeks and months until you pass.

Unless you are willing to burn a few weekends, its hard not to pass..

yeah man.....i got 5 years actual driving experience with manual gear and still got to put in 100% effort to learn in a 2 weeks reservist course, then manage to pass [sweatdrop]

imagine all those poor 18 years old boys who got zero driving experience [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

in fact, i had more fun going thru the m113 driving course than the 3 tonner course [thumbsup][grouphug]

As a 19 yo then, I don't even know how the gears work, which pedal is for what etc and the instructor just told me to start engine (Merz 3 tonner) and go. [sweatdrop] I really nearly ball drop. [crazy] The other ball nearly drop 2 days later when he said, "Ok, let's drive on the real roads outside the camp." [sweatdrop]

During my BMT time in neesoon camp in 1987 , my own buddy is a low IQ .Everyday ,I really have to help him in everything we did .From wearing No4 uniforms to helping him with translation .He can't understand instruction at all .

Into the 2nd month of training , he was upon the suggestion of MO , downgraded and OOC .

The last I heard about him was that he is being posted to do GD work until ROD.

Why in the first place SAF wanted to enlist him ?

He could've passed the signing-on interview easily.

Just look at the intelligence level of regulars around.. <_<

haha.. when i was the instructor for a scholar company in OCS, there were a few that were earmarked to be SAFOS (oversea scholar), and we are tasked to assess them.

There is this one guy, super blur and c--k.. but he is some sci or maths olympiad champion, full array of A's for his A level etc.. But outfield really cannot make it.. even simple tasks he also blur like Fxxk.. haiz..

It was the period that is very near to my ORD, so before the Tri-service term ends, i left to clear my leave already.. and forgot about this guy.. until.....

After i ORD, i saw this guy on the paper, proudly wearing his 2 white bars, holding to the sword and Appointment Cert... he got the SAFOS... He will be some Col or BG in time to come.. OMG.... Hope he wise up by then.

OCS, last time my one..sure got drop out due to not competent.

they each company say got 100 recuit to become OCT.

then 2 mths later the Comandos will come in 15 pax. then the lowest performing 15 current OCT will kick out.

then 2-3 mths later.... after sispec 15 will come in... another last 15 will be out.

thus end of the day their strength will be still 100.

can't be so bad right? that time i kenna absorb to skolar company after 2/3 of them disrupt, those left behind still quite ok. a few quite steady, some where my friends b4 NS.

anyway the skolar track after they go tour need to talk like smooth operator.. carry themselve confidently.. impress the higher ups then can go higher. practical maybe not so important liao.

I guess that's why some SOPs getting a bit strange, policies developed by skolars.
