I just got this car. Here's the condition:

The car dealer sent the car to Caltex before putting it up for sale....sigh....I liked the engine hence bought it.

The bonnet and boot are worse. The water mark, machine mark, all sorts of marks are deep....

The plan is to do panel by panel. I know I can't remove it all especially the deeper ones. Just trying to do my best.

So this bonnet was done with Flex big wool pad, and Meguiars M105, Flex Rotary at Speed 4 (about 1,800 RPM) followed by GLARE polish, haven't waxed yet.

To be continued tomorrow.....

I'm 30.

I bought it because I like it. The moment they launched it back in 2003-2004 I liked it already.

To get is shiny is easy, to be swirl free and water mark free is also easy, Just cut one more round with wool pad. But the risk is high that I'll strike through the clear coat, without knowing the history of the paint. Typically I'll remove 85%-90% of the swirls first for this round, relatively good risk and reward decision. To cut/compound more would be too high a risk, for a little more benefits only. For the rest just polish over the months slowly deminishing them.

Respray means sending in the car for 1-2 weeks which is not possible until October maybe, then I have the time. But honestly I don't want to spend money on that.

You know, even if it is the last generation BMW 5 series, if it has big engine, I like it. My future in-laws have a 11 year old 528. And back then, that 5 series was recognised as the best Mid-size sedan by the motoring world. Another car that I like is the Merc 190E, very old but it has a 2.3 or 2.5 Cosworth engine.

And black car so easy to holo, so after compounding with M105 I polished it with Sonax Nano Polish, followed by 3M final glaze, and then Flex sealant....

Great effort [thumbsup] but tough work... [sweatdrop] You do this all by yourself or send to car grooming???

I'm doing it myself. And you know BMW rims very dirty, I have to wax them to prevent the brake dust from sticking to the rims to much. It helps.

Actually good to have another person helping e.g. after 1st person compound, and polish, the 2nd person can go through one more round with a DA to ensure no holo and maximum gloss.
