Wind30 Turbocharged June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 (edited) guys, do any of u use upper payer lebar road towards ubi in the morning?? Recently after they spent millions building and opening the underpass at bartley road, the jam has improved considerably. But there is still jam further up and I realised that it is due to inconsiderate drivers doing illegal u turns at the right turn into Lor Ong Lye. Basically right after the junction between the upper payer lebar rd and lor ah soo there is a right turn opening into Lor Ong Lye. But INCONSIDERATE drivers has been using that opening to do illegal u-turns. Because that opening DOES NOT have a waiting lane, one single stupid driver will jam up the right lane. The left lane is bus lane, so we end up with only one lane for traffic. Furthermore, just like 100m down there is a u turn with a nice waiting lane which can accomodate a few cars but people are too lazy to drive 100m more. I feedback to LTA already but they say the right turn is to distribute traffic into some dunno what roads which I think is totally nonsense. They should just close of the right turn as there is a u turn just further up ahead. Can more people help to feedback? the number to call is 1800 - 2255 582 it takes only 2 minutes to call but if they fix this, it can save us like 5-10 minutes everyday. the roads in question are here http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...vel_site_86993/ Edited June 29, 2009 by Wind30 ↡ Advertisement

Tkseah Supercharged June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 TS wan LTA to close off the right-turn to Lor Ong Lye.. so anyone who need to go Lor Ong Lye need to go 100m further to make a u-turn..
Yoongf 4th Gear June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 Shd focus the feedback on the issue of congestion due to the right turn, not propose the banning of U turn. If is a congestion issue, then they may consider do away with bus lane for that short stretch.r widen that section of the road. Looking at that neighbourhood, I think the grassroots there quite strong. See the playground there.. can sense the residents there quite powerful. Getting rid of the right turn very low chance. Lv3338 Clutched June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 (edited) but i think if banning the right turn..... ...people have to do a u-turn at 100m infront , then filter all the way to the left (within short distance) to turn into Lor Ong Lye . if the incoming is heavy... and people not confident of able to filter to extrime left....they will still not move and halt the right lane...then it is gonna square one ..?? Zniper 2nd Gear June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 anyway TS, it's like tis... i believe almost every now and then u will see illegal u-turns being made and tat driver making tis illegal u-turn is not confident enough sometimes hog the whole lane until cow come home... so i believe tat if u r driving in sg, bear wif all these bcos there are simply too many u-know-what drivers around... Why not be more considerate and wait 100m down the road where there is a WAITING lane so you will not block the traffic. Seriously, the next turn is like 100m down and takes 10-20 seconds to drive. Wind30 Turbocharged June 29, 2009 Author Share June 29, 2009 (edited) If you end up behind the bugger doing this, just press your horn and hold it there. He'll get the message. the problem is u never know if he is making a right turn or uturn until he makes the turn.... but in morning peak hours, who drives into Lor Ong Lye??? 90% of the people there are doing illegal uturns. still even if he is a making a right turn, I think he can do it 100m down the road where there is a waiting lane. The main problem is LTA never make a waiting lane so as long as ONE CAR is waiting to turn, he blocks up the ENTIRE right lane on upper payer lebar road which is kind of stupid. one guys saves like 10 seconds, but causes 10 cars to wait like 10-60 seconds depending on how long he makes the turn. I know but it is really stupid on the LTA part in allowing the right turn. I mean they spend MILLIONS of taxpayers money to build the underpass at bartley road junction and can't they do proper traffic design further up. Wind30 Turbocharged June 29, 2009 Author Share June 29, 2009 hahah u crazy or wat? urging ppl to call got use one u know. Previously http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?showto...2;traffic\ they did lengthen the timing for the traffic light so now, it still jam but not as bad. They should just throw away the above traffic light but I don't drive that road anymore since the bartley underpass opened. LTA, will investigate and if enough people feedback, they will get off their butts and fix it.
Watwheels Supersonic June 29, 2009 Share June 29, 2009 You can DIY. Get enough concrete blocks, wait till middle of the night, go there block the opening with the concrete blocks and you are home free. If you can't get concrete blocks you can always get nails & screws or any sharp object.
