Axela72 5th Gear June 25, 2009 Share June 25, 2009 (edited) Hi, Saw from some articles that Amsoil is Group IV while, Royal Purple is Group IV with some Group V additives oil. However, heard that Royal Purple thin before 10k km mileage (8k km?). Not sure how true it is. But below links show us that RP seem one of the best: http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf If intend to use for 10k mileage, which is the better choice with better performance and FC? Currently, understand that they are both at the same price. For 42k km mileage car, should we choose a W30 or W40 type? Kindly advise..Thx BTW, has been using Schaeffer all the time. Since it is no longer as cheap in the past, must as well change to one of the the above more premium brand instead. Tigershark1976 Turbocharged July 9, 2009 Share July 9, 2009 use both before, think amsoil is better. unless RP is cheaper, otherwise, Amsoil wil be a better buy.
Darkblue 1st Gear July 9, 2009 Share July 9, 2009 Clear winner... Amsoil No TC, W30 will do. Amsoil SSO is the best engine oil available for N/A.

And again...no FI then go for w30.
Ixat 1st Gear July 10, 2009 Share July 10, 2009 Very obvious engine roughness after 6-7K on RP. Engine remains smooth on Amsoil thru 10K mileage.
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear July 11, 2009 Share July 11, 2009 (edited) Bro, go for Amsoil ... Heard many whom say RP breaks down at around 6-7K range If you don't mind going for oil change at every 5K interval then it's alright Edited July 11, 2009 by Mzrmazda3

Trex101 3rd Gear July 21, 2009 Share July 21, 2009 (edited) Go for Amsoil AMO 10w40, the high ZINC formula would definably help on protection during high load and boost. Edited July 21, 2009 by Trex101

Am also on Amsoil 5w30, engine revs and is very responsive. However find that the engine is a tad loud.. so may try 5w40 next time to go for more protection.
