the 1st oakley i got in 1994

which cost me about $50 back then

and very hard to find oakley that time

as most specs shop shun oakley claiming that is not a good popular brand

only can get at bicycle shop

 

3 years later almost every spec shop carry the brand

which made popular by beach volleyballs players which look cool with oakley specs

 

now frogskin cost $300+ i last check

I used to have the same sentiments as u. If you go to pasa malam, there would be awful lot of oakley fakes on sale (I was also guilty of buying last time). Till one day I bought myself a genuine Oakley and it really change my perception of Oakley. The lens are one of the best in the market especially the wired polarized. Its highly recommendable for driving. And from then on I know how to differentiate a fake from an ori just by looking at the lens. Got to admit, I have been a freak from then on and have like 10 different pairs at home. I have been on other brands of shades but nothing comes close to Oakley. I agree that some of the designs are loud and yearning for attention but that's what makes it stand out. THe styling speaks volume but its the lens that is the winner. Most of my Oakleys are bought from Ebay. Never buy it form the stores here. If I am interested in a particular model I will try it oin in the stores and go online to buy it. Do a comparison among the sellers and you might get yourself a very good deal. Don't worry about being sold fakes because if its a confirm fake, you can report to the ebay admin and after investigation, they will refund you and the seller will get blacklisted. Because of paypal, nothing is transparent. But one thing you need to compare apart from the cost of the shades is the shipping cost. Some of the shipping cost a bomb. THe last shades I bought from Ebay was like $300 bucks off from the store. ANd that includes shipping. Anyway good luck hunting for Oakley!

sharing my experience - bought two oakley online through ebay. Bot the top range oakley - juilet (black limited edition - ducati) and the romeo 2.

 

Just to inform you, the price for the juliet was 899 in captiol optical. I got it from a power seller at 220 us dollars. After conversion and shipping, its abt 340 dollars. What a saving.

 

the other - romeo which can't really be found in any of the stores unless you made a special order, i got it for 230 us dollars which is so much cheaper!

 

The concerns about warranty....we are talking abt sunglass, not some fragile items. How often does a pair of oakley sunglass break into half? and by the way, the warranty does not cover the lens.

 

All in all, i will definitely get it from ebay.

Acutally i dun really think that oakley is that fanastic. I had quite a number pairs of sunglasses. 4 oakleys, tag heuer, columbia and ray bans. The best lens is acutally tag heuer. You should try and see the difference. Oakley lens scratch too easily esp the gold irdium lens. Paying such high price for lens that scatch so easier.

The touch and feel of an authentic oakley esp the top range series the x metals...next time, just go to the optical store and ask for a juliet or x metal. feel it and wear it for a while. Then go to pasar malam and see those fake ones...

 

if buying from ebay, just get from the power sellers. Can PM me if you want some recommendations
