Albeniz Turbocharged June 20, 2009 Share June 20, 2009 Dear Folks, Have been bugged by a wifi technical problem on the Acer Aspire one netbook recently. Hope some folks here could give an advice or two. Internet connection is normal when the netbook is powered by the mains power supply. When the netbook is running on battery, internet connection becomes unstable with regular intermittent disconnectons. Has anyone here faced the same problem? Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Jonpaul0104 2nd Gear June 20, 2009 Share June 20, 2009 hi, i am also using the Acer aspire One netbook....no such issue faced by me.... could it be the wireless signal strength is poor when u are at different location of the house?
Albeniz Turbocharged June 20, 2009 Author Share June 20, 2009 (edited) Thanks. I surf the net at the same location. Signal should be quite strong. When the power plug is switched off, internet fails intermittently (when it operates using the battery). Everything returns to normal when I switch on the mains again. Gotten this unit from States about 2 months ago. Edited June 20, 2009 by Albeniz

Albeniz Turbocharged June 20, 2009 Author Share June 20, 2009 I suspect the voltage/power is somehow reduced when it is operated by the battery. I tried looking at the "power options" under the control panel to see if there is any parameter I could play with, but that doesn't seem to work. Amortifiedpenguin Clutched June 21, 2009 Share June 21, 2009 I notice it happened to my aser aspire 4920 as well. or even worse, you may not even be able to turn on your wireless receiver! even if you plug it into power! solution- when connected to power, set your preferences in the acer e power managment AND windows power management. then restart immediately(if not it wont save). never had this problem with other pc laptops or macbooks though. Icekitten Clutched June 21, 2009 Share June 21, 2009 Have been using my Aspire One for months. No such problem faced by me. I've even dropped it a few times and it's always rattling in the boot of my car. So far it has been a reliable lappie for me. There is a setting where you can set the battery with performance....if not wrong under the settings for network connection or adapter. At times the network adapter disables itself if the lappie is left on battery power and on standby for too long. All you have to do is to go to the Device Manager, refresh the devices and the adapter enables itself again. Don't use the network adapter switch at the bottom of the lappie. Using that won't help. Darkblue 1st Gear June 25, 2009 Share June 25, 2009 I suggest u go inside the network adaptor setting and disable power savings... (which is not significant to overall battery life) much better connection reliability ↡ Advertisement
