Carbon82 Moderator June 19, 2009 Share June 19, 2009 Let me clarify, this is NOT a replacement model of the aging X3... It is built on the 1 series platform, hence it X1 naming. ;) Much better looking the X3 I would say... ↡ Advertisement

Happily1986 5th Gear June 19, 2009 Share June 19, 2009 Cross model platform sharing? Interesting... It certainly does project a greater road presence than the current X3 in my opinion. the current X3 styling is not my cup of tea by a mile. the photos give me an impression that perhaps length wise and wheelbase wise, the X1 is longer? I noted the lower stance which dismiss all probabilities of a outlandish tip-toe stance, the bold raised bonnet lines from 5 series as well as the rear lamp clusters from the 3 series. The gradual sloping rear is verymuch preferred to the abrupt-cutoff rear of the current X3 too.

Peaceracer 1st Gear June 19, 2009 Share June 19, 2009 It seems more like a hatchback thn an SUV, which is gd! cos i don go off-road. Looks fiercer than a Q5 to me.

Limkopi Neutral Newbie June 20, 2009 Share June 20, 2009 no offence but give me Q5 and i definitely choose it over this........ X1 has no Audi competitor. X3 is Q5 competitor. X5 is Q7 competitor. Audi may release a Q3 sometimes, who knows. To me the Q5 has very bland styling, it is not attractive from the outside and the inside is a typical copy of interior from the other model. Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear June 20, 2009 Share June 20, 2009 size wise, it's only a fair bit smaller than the X3...so expect the next X3 to be much larger...almost X5...

Carbon82 Moderator June 20, 2009 Author Share June 20, 2009 It's based on the platform of the AWD 3 Series, not the 1 Series. According to this article published online (a reputable one to say), it is to be based on the 1 series platform.
