Petrol Recommendation

No lehz. I am in this world to tell ppl that higher octane number doesnt mean that it is gd for the car.

Mine recommanded is 92 so i jus pump and the mileage got better. (not sure if its directly affected by e fuel)

I feel that there is no point in putting higher grade fuel into your car if it doesnt need it. Yes the difference is very little but we shouldnt throw $$ to the drain too rite. Best is follow the car manual.

Saw a Swift 1.3A pumping 98 @ Shell. I was like [shocked]

My aunt also swore by Caltex's 98 for her Verna 1.6. I tried telling her but she don believe. To prevent our relationship from deteriorating, i decided to give up telling her.

Wise choice [thumbsup]

Higher Octane, the better.

Go for Min. 95.

The difference isn't much, and mileage will be the same. Not worth the extra money unless you're pumping in JB.

I was wondering if anyone had used one of those octane boosters sold in the petrol stations. Seems like a scam to me ... anyone?

vpower does that too, so y risk getting something unfamiliar. i guess if its really gd, manufacturers will recommend it

Howdy Alfist168,

I understand your concern here, there is no much difference in terms of FC and perhaps power too.

But do note that, your engine will feel the different.

Just like comparing Marlboro vs. Promax cigarettes. But, both are still cigarettes.

Just like comparing Nescafe Gold vs. no frills coffee powder. But, both are still coffee powder.

Just like comparing Michelin vs. Kumho tyres. But, both are still tyres.

If you love your ride, feed her properly. [inlove]

Engine feel the difference but the key here is do YOU feel the difference? Psychologically, maybe? What's next, higher octane "cleans" your engine better?

Nonetheless, I am a proponent for pumping the min. RON your car manufacturer recommends. No one's stopping you if you feel rich though.

Maybe FC and power wont be different. But somehow i suddenly remember that my father's car vibrations lessened when he tried the vpower last time. So I sort of understand... its the quality of the power delivered to you, not the quantity that matters. Just like how all cigarettes can give you the kick, cheap or not, but their smoothness and satisfaction are all different.

They could have added additives to make it burn better but this may not translate to better milege. I noticed lesser vibrations on Vpower and Caltex Plat too but it's not really worth the price cos hardly observable unless u try to notice it to justify the price difference. FC was worse off for me for both.

Always use Bintang brand of petrol,so no comment on other brand.

I find 98ron gives me smoother and better mileage than 95ron
