Hankook V8RS Equivalent?

Hi guys,

I am currently on Hankook V8RS(actually V2 Blackbird cos mine is 15") and very happy with the grip both in the wet and dry. They are almost due for replacement and I'll be happy to get a 2nd set of V8RS. Unfortunately it is not available anymore and Robert quoted me K415 as the replacement. The quote was very attractive with the special discount at the moment.

For those who were previously on V8RS and now using K415, appreciate your comments on the latter.

Some concerns here:

V8RS is VR rated whilst K415 is HR rated. I usually don't speed on the straights but i like to take bends and corners faster than other drivers :)

V8RS has rim protector but K415 dont. Not a major concern but a good to have.

I was previously on GR80 but it was no where near V8 in terms of grip...especially in the wet. Considering to go back to this tyre but too bad it is also EOL like V8.

Any other rubbers to recommend?

Michelin has a new tyre - Primacy LC, coming soon (maybe already available?)

For my size 15" it comes V rated, so performance wise should be higher than the nornal H rated tyre.

Review from Malaysia website so far claim to be quiet with reasonable grip. I guess is comparable to the former V8RS (V2).

btw, mine is 195 60 15. My friend just collected his Avante and it came with K415 185 65 15....and they are made in China [sweatdrop]

hi

am still using the K415 for nearly 2 years already

although it starts to be slightly noisy

the overall grip is still very good. very predicable to drive with

i still can go through the malaysia side of the immigration winding

road fairly fast :D

may change to the same tyres again, esp when it's very value for $$

that's my 2 cents worth

Current tyre is same size as yours. Previously tried V2 twice on my old car (190/50R15), I like it. Unfortunately no more production.... Got a good quote for K415, but I hope to get something more 'exciting'. [drivingcar]

Now using stock tyre, DNA dB with around 35k km mileage already. Next tyre I considering Michelin Primacy LC or PP2, Continental CPC2, or Yokohama V550.... Basically I'm looking for quiet n comfortable tyre with reasonable grip.

You can try to get V8RS in the Autobacs shop in JB. The shop is located on the left side of the road going towards Tebrau City. Don't know if they have your particular size though. Good luck.

Autobacs (JB) and U-tyre quotrs are different.

U-tyre is in skudai which is much more further

in thus the cheaper quote. I changed mine V12Evo

there.
