Detach8 5th Gear October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 (edited) hi there, our 1.6 sylphy is issue with 195/60/R16. if i change to 215/55/R16, it is ard 0.5% larger in circumference. If you use 205/55/R16, the new tires size will be small. using this link below to calculate, http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator Even you change to 17" rim, you can use a lesser profile tires to offset the wheel size. To reply your question, in theory, large or wider tires = less efficiency. But as i mention, i do not feel much different by changing to a wider tires. i more of concern about wider tires will hit my fender or not. Anyway i prefer more contact to the ground anytime. And my objective is to increase the width not circumference of the wheel. try re-seating your ash tray in the console box. (hope i get your post right) I am pretty sure adding 2cm to your tyre widths (+1cm outboard, +1cm inboard) will not rub your fenders. Also that 0.5% rotational incease is negligible since anyway when the tyre wears down it would also be around that kind of difference. But I rather you spend the money on better tyres, not wider tyres. You may gain 2cm in tyre width but if you buy cheap tyres the amount of contact you get on the ground from a 215 profile can actually be less than a good 195 profile tyre. The way the threads and grooves are designed and how they deform under load, and the quality of the tyre compound matters a lot. If you want more grip, I recommend you go 205/50/R17 and buy a good tyre. With the reduced sidewall height, you should have better handling and braking. If you're all about comfort or worried about road noise, then I recommend not changing tyres from your current 195/60/R16. Just FYI, 195 mm width is plenty for sedan cars. BMW i8 comes stock with: 195/50/R20 front 215/45/R20 rear And editorial reviewers drove the shit out of that car. Rockerbun Neutral Newbie October 26, 2015 Share October 26, 2015 Suggest you get it repaired. The cover should spring open when you unlatch. Not a major cause of concern even if it is not repaired. But it's like a pain in the neck if you leave it undone. Just to update all sylphy drivers. The console box unable to spring open is not part of the warranty. My service adviser is filing an investigation to see if it is chargeable.

IF your car is less than a yr, go bang table on your service adviser.....even a cheap stuff will have at least 1 yr warranty..... If he still insists, ask him to list down all the car parts of what is covered and what is not.
Cicada1810 1st Gear October 26, 2015 Share October 26, 2015 this is not normal. It should spring up easily This case reminds me of my leather seat when I first collected my car. The rear seats leather was rather crumpled. Leather wasn't well pulled. So my agent took a picture and whatsapp 'someone'. Soon he told me to drive to a workshop at Ubi. Turned out that local workshop was insourced to do leather seats for Sylphy. Nice chap. I called the guy, made an appointment. Went down and had the rear seats re-leathered in an hour for free, plus an extra bottle of leather conditioner. So I learnt from him that certain parts of Sylphy are insourced to local workshop to keep cost of the car low. Probably thats one reason why Sylphy is one of the more affordable C-Class. Other reason includes omitting parts that are not essential.

Columbian78 6th Gear October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 Suggest to be more friendly to the staff. They are drawing salary and supporting families. There are thousands of parts and modules in the car, how to list everything down? Talk to them nicely maybe can get it changed under warranty. My passenger side sun visor mirror disattached. No questions asked, they just changed. Usually under first 3 years they are very happy to change cos I think this is claimed from factory. If you really must go by book, just ref to your warranty booklet, the one issued by Tan Chong. It should describe broadly what is covered and what is not. Black and white cannot run.

Robtan99 1st Gear October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 Bang table solves problems? Depends on the type of person who is either talking sense or rubbish. Imagine on my second servicing i realised one of my rim there is a very rough cut at the inner edge of the rim. The service agent says their servicing guys did not do it as they dont do rotation. He even say i may have did it myself. I told him to use his brains to find me a curb in Singapore that can make me this type of rough cut. Finally brought up to the tyre specialist and and also the supervisor. The tyre specialist confirm the cut is by the machine when putting in the tyres. They replace my rim immediately. They only used a heat gun to straighten it. And due to the heat i found some of the threads melted and broke. Now still waiting for their reply what they going to do abt this. I googled and realised that it is actually bad for the leather if they heat it. Coz that removes the moisture and shrink it and thus it appears straight. But it will become hard and cracks more easily.

Devilcup 3rd Gear October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 Since you just bought car, the possible reason you it is very low, you can try call your sale agent and ask if this can replace for free. no harm asking a second person to try luck?

Oh that's good. At least they bother to remove and tighten for u. When i first told my SE abt this, he said the boss of the leather shop said this is normal coz the leather is new and not seasoned. He asked me to park under hot sun for a few hours every day to speedup the curing process. I don't quite accept his answer so went down to his workshop. Same thing ask me park under sun and tried explaining to me why the leather is wrinkled. In the end he asked his workers to use heat gun to straighten... This is what i got during the 1st week i got my car. Do u guys think this is normal or am i being too fussy? :)

Blade07 1st Gear October 27, 2015 Share October 27, 2015 The issue which I encountered during the test drive was that the rear car seats was squeaking quite loudy during the drive.most likely the seats were not fitted properly too. Quite surprised by that as I always assume test drive cars are always done nicely. Guess the local leather seat fitting company did not do a proper QC, and Tan Chong did not check too.
