But then again, I hardly need to use the CTE in the first place as I work out West. Even then, the stupid BKE will be jammed at points of confluence from as early as 7 a.m. Even roads like the old bukit timah road towards city are jammed up like crazy...oh almost forgot...even with ERP Yes. I avoid CTE at ALL costs. Cos it pisses me right off when I see a bloody 20km/h start-stop snake of a queue when I least expect it e.g. 3pm in the afternoon from AMK Ave 3 on-ramp to PIE junction. Incredible. I kick myself each time I thought I had it all figured out and the CTE just continues to amaze me without fail. So I avoid it like the plague now. ↡ Advertisement

The stupid government never improve the CTE for dunno how many donkey years.... common CTE was built like soooo long ago when there is only like AMK..... Then came hougang + yishun.... then came woodlands which is a HUGE town but they forgot to add a road linking woodlands to city so just funnel everyone into CTE.... crazy planning. Russ 1st Gear May 30, 2009 Share May 30, 2009 KPE is fantastic. I live in Pasir Ris. Previously, if I worked past 5:30PM, I just stay in the office until 8pm and then join the slow traffic on the ECP back from the city. It is still better than at 7PM. Now, I go to Nicoll Highway, join the KPE and there is never any jam home. 60-70km/h is still faster than the 20-40 km/h at the ECP at 7PM. If you live in the North, take the KPE, then TPE west - a bit far but usually no jam... takes less time and probably less petrol too, especially since you will be driving at a very economical speed 70km/h). Just have to contend with the rather ripply bumpy surface of the KPE...
Bismarck Turbocharged May 30, 2009 Share May 30, 2009 I like driving at PIE, though there are jam but it is better than CTE and more fun and challenging driving at PIE. Used to use CTE quite often but now no more ever since KPE opened In fact I have also cut down on using TPE too. BKE/KJE/SLE also less. ECP is the least expressway I use so no comment on that. Agree that KPE is fantastic. But once the ERP in operation, I may think otherwise

Head out at upp thomson then to lornie. On top of adam road bridge, PIE was jammed all the way to BKE.. Every working day, the situation is the same and everyone just likes to use the road when arterial roads are much faster. Now during day time ... I would use Braddell Road instead, the traffic is quite ok.

Trader88_sg Neutral Newbie May 31, 2009 Share May 31, 2009 How come with KPE in operation, CTE's traffic is still so heavy?
Xspace 1st Gear May 31, 2009 Share May 31, 2009 PIE is the main express way... Big jams also occur in CTE n AYE cos alot exits and entrances... ↡ Advertisement
